This means that many people are fleeing a country with anti-homosexuality laws that have been directly inherited from British colonial rule.

I don’t believe for a minute that what was in the paper yesterday about Kezia Dugdale was anywhere near enough to appease FWS. What do they know and what worse news is to come? There must be something else and it is going to be horrific.

Literally this morning. This isn't some random transphobic account, it's a prominent figure in UK anti-trans politics, with 160k followers, routinely promoted and RTd by Rowling, "Sex Matters", etc. Just openly calling to completely ban being trans.

What are trans folks supposed to do with that?

Oh Kezia 🤦‍♂️🧵 1/12

We don’t win progress by cosying up to people who undermine it and we certainly don’t do it by offering them “nothing but respect”.

Yes, there are grey areas. Some people are uninformed, some are on the fence. Fine talk to them. That’s how you shift public opinion.

Hi @stonewalluk.bsky.social now would be the time to ask Kezia Dugdale if she will sign the @nionwomen.bsky.social letter against cis women’s rights being used as a pretext to remove trans people’s human rights, like Hannah Spencer has done. As things stand ATM the absence of it is speaking volumes.

‘Things could go backwards’: Kezia Dugdale on safety, LGBTQ+ rights and the future of Stonewall Exclusive: Former Scottish Labour leader says she feels more scared as a lesbian today and calls for a kinder debate on transgender issues

“We need to be kinder to the people who wish for our extermination” is a position.

And, as usual for anyone who once, even nominally, supported trans people and tries to reach out to the bigots, you just end up ensuring everyone hates you because they will *never* accept you.

So, good work.

But Stonewall will never be considered ’good’ in the eyes of the bigots. No matter how far they throw us under the bus. Regardless of intention these comments are going to destroy any lingering hope that Stonewall are going to fight for us. You can’t appease the unappeasable.

I'm sorry, but this is utterly unacceptable from Stonewall's new Chair. And entirely unnecessary. Nothing is gained from this except communicating to trans people that Stonewall does not care about them.

Anyone who still has “huge respect” for JK Rowling after Everything she’s said and done has definitionally no respect for trans people

the 'good' labour mps have had a year to fix the supreme court ruling and nearly two years to end the puberty blocker ban.

in that time they have achieved absolutely nothing.

vote green.

A reminder that trans people's 'demands' were 'can we have healthcare that doesn't take 20 years?' and 'can we change our documents easier!?'

That's it.

And we didn't even ask very loudly.

In response, the UK has decided to take all our rights away.

Behaviour by a small number of bad-faith actors does not reflect the reality of LGBTQI+ people seeking asylum - Rainbow Migration Almost 70 countries criminalise same-sex relations, some with the death penalty. The UK government itself recognises that in Pakistan consensual same-sex

We are aware of the BBC’s investigation into individuals allegedly helping people fabricate LGBTQI+ asylum claims. Read the full statement on our website:

What's not in the news: Over a decade of research has consistently revealed significant flaws in Home Office decision-making for LGBTQI+/sexuality-based asylum claims, raising real concerns about the UK meeting its obligations under the Refugee Convention.

Below are some examples:

This story is based entirely on dodgy advisers lying to potential clients to get money out of them. The one person they actually spoke to who used this 'service' was rejected and returned to Pakistan and has since been blocked from returning to the UK.

Legal advisers help migrants pose as gay to get asylum, undercover BBC investigation finds The BBC exposes a shadow industry charging migrants thousands of pounds to help them cheat the asylum system.

Disgusting reporting by BBC using a tiny number of cases to suggest widespread abuse of a system which routinely denies LGBTQIA+ individuals asylum and forces them back into environments of persecution. This article massively distorts the reality of the situation. 1/

We will continue to use spaces where we feel safe and comfortable, no matter what any 'guidance' about trans people says. You can't prove anyone is trans or is not trans. So, Labour... the EHRC... in advance of whatever shit you're going to come up with.... we refuse to comply. Cry about it.

Agree. All of this.

If you're not trans do you realise how hard it is to work, sleep and think about the future when you're continually waiting for what ton of bricks the government might drop on you next?
