@nickzlmhc.bsky.social never bot wrong

I think people have shortcut "Greatest" to mean most powerful, otherwise they wouldn't have put cards that were such monumental fuckups across constructed formats that they're more banned than legal.
His response was "No. Skullclamp is a powerful card, but it's not a *good* card." This list is a who's who of *powerful cards* but not actually good game pieces that make a game more fun.
Many people have heard me say this, but the most important lesson in game design I ever learned was from @mcdarbygames.bsky.social at the first CubeCon. He was ragging on me for having Skullclamp in the Devoid cube, and I said something like "What are you talking about, Skullclamp is so good!"
Those two are not on the same tier as the others, though I'm finding myself less enamored of Emry of late as I drift away from finding repetitive play patterns interesting.
Neither of them, however, belong on list of the "Greatest" Magic Cards printed in the last decade.
There is currently a bracket going for the "Greatest Magic Card of the Last Decade" on reddit. This is the round of 16, which is exclusively problems. Seriously, has no one voting on this played with Scrapwork Mutt, the *actual* Greatest Magic Card of the last decade?
This list is unhinged.
This is the best Allbirds knock down I’ve seen
Nekrataal
I was thinking similarly - the classic Strixhaven setup of spells that make creatures, a la Serpentine Curve. I like the idea of just a straight burn deck too. But I think I would start at the extreme of "only Page + instants + sorceries" and not look at other things like Drake Haven, for example.
Breaking singleton on this:
I think this just ends up being a weird Momir Experience? Where you just put only Instants, Sorceries and Pages into the list?
It’s amazing. It’s like a super vintage of wine that aged into a prized vinegar. The little throw-away jokes remain some of the best comedy of all time, and all the political stuff feels so painfully dated (also the multiple episodes you can’t stream anymore because of the blackface 😬)
Apology mid-game/next round as you give the card back to rightful owner.
Immediate Khonshu vibes for me, but I love the design of this character
2-1 with Jeskai Goodstuff. Phlage is a very powerful card that I feel no need or strong desire to ever play again. I’ve had that reaction a lot recently - with Ocelot Pride, Skullclamp. I’m just pretty done with the play pattern and don’t need them in my magic anymore 🤷♂️
Back at it again at @cubeforacause.upkeepnewyork.com’s weekly Cube Night, playing @scottmirts.upkeepnewyork.com’s eponymous Mirt’s Cube, one of the few higher-power, traditional(ish) environments in our roster.
You certainly can keep watching it. Forever. And Ever. And Ever.

YEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAOOOOOOOOOOW
Anyway, vibes check on the cursed idol Monkey for the Pirates of the Caribbean Cube (I don't care, it's going in).
Having weird cubes and the proliferation of weird cubes makes spoiler season *the best*. Instead of "Is this card cubeable" and it's some insanely pushed mythic, it's all "Does this common land fit the vibes of my 3 color thematic vibes cube?"
And that fucking rules.
We did it, we found the fair reanimate.
Nah, they just put the cracked Black one in the main set for some reason (because Exsanguinate is a Commander Card):
Who // What // Where // When treatment, I think.
Maybe 3-card food melds.
A+ no notes.
Ms Marvel in Marvel shit. Protector of Jersey City, baby!
