My friend who would say this to me is now our next door neighbor in the urban cottage court we both moved into
You say spiraling, I say twirling, twirling, TWIRLING towards freedom 🍃
My book, Crackdown, is a finalist for the BC and Yukon Book Prize (Hubert Evans Non-Fiction Prize). There are four other finalists. We'll find out who wins in the fall. bcyukonbookprizes.com/2026/04/14/a...
Godspeed this summer to all our [young, underfunded, etc] beloved Ontario parks employees 🍻
"Dumbing down the public isn’t just the product of the tech industry. For decades, right-wing political movements have pushed to defund education, leading to declining literacy in the US, while thought-provoking literature and culture has been slowly replaced by entertainment driven by spectacle."

This is outrageous! By giving his government the power to appoint ALL regional chairs across Ontario, Premier Ford is effectively seizing control of regional governments.
School boards. Killing FOIs. And now, regional councils.
Ford is dismantling our democracy. www.ctvnews.ca/toronto/arti...
Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre recently became the first Canadian political leader to appear on the “Joe Rogan Experience” podcast.
Did he spread harmful disinformation that could be detrimental to Canadians? Experts checked. #canpoli

@jessmarindavis.bsky.social could you please help me better understand this perceived Davos contradiction? I'm not in this realm at all but would like to be able to discuss it when I hear people continue to cheer Carney on citing this speech. Are there analysis articles I should read?
I would happily pay the $50/year or whatever it works out to be, for sidewalk clearing services in WR. better yet keep taxes the same and pull it from the WRPS...
In Toronto yes, but in Cambridge only where there isn't a grassy boulevard between the sidewalk and the road. Funny enough, sidewalk clearing in (at least Scarborough) is contentious... homeowners fear for their lawns when the lil plow comes by 🙄
Check out my conversation with Tanille Johnston, one of the five candidates running to be NDP leader!
I'm really impressed by Tanille and I think that it's too bad that money didn't flood into her campaign like it did into Avi's.

Join us on March 16 to learn about MOVE history & a local curriculum project.
Explore how the government’s willingness to bomb schoolchildren, whether in Iran today or in the Philadelphia neighborhood of MOVE decades ago, reveals patterns of state violence. ⬇️

Was miraculously not late for the workshop and it went well. Thanks IRL Festival, you're a delight!
....and that's about how I feel about #DaylightSavingsTime as someone who does not keep their phone anywhere near the sleep zone. Makes sense, I was just starting to enjoy the nice early sunset.
said to my partner "omg WHAT, for some reason my alarm clock was an hour behind what my phone says and now I have fifteen minutes to get ready, not an hour fifteen 🫨"
Had a 10 am workshop this morning so I set my alarm for 7:28 as normal. Woke up, gotta do things, no snooze! Looked at my phone a few minutes later and it said 8:44
This is the image I used to make the previous digital flyer, it is a picture from the last time Be Gay Do Crafts did collage. The part that stressed me out was that I offered my copy of the Canadian Green Consumer Guide for some reason...which I regretted a lot because it's a cool book. Oh well. Maybe I will patch it back together one day.
This month they’re doing collages. Collages stress me out and I’m a little glad I’m missing out BUT I do hear lots of people find that collage art is fun and light and sweet and overall BGDC is a darling queer community space open to all ages go enjoy!!
Be Gay Do Crafts digital flyer. A collage, with orange stripes and a black bird mid-flight coming in on the left. Block of text reads: be gay do crafts, a queer crafternoon at kwartzlab makerspace. last saturday of every month, 2-4 pm. guided crafts or bring your own. this month: collage. march 28 2026. free, all supplies provided. rsvp: kwartzlab.eventbrite.com

Digital flyer for Knit City Toronto. March 27-29, 2026 at Enercare Centre. The top half of the flyer shows three white people hanging out at the Tullys Yarn/Worth Mending booth. Yep, that's us! I'm caught with a goofy look on my face and one hand in motion because I'm probably flailing around, with my two friends looking quite normal in the background. Ooh, all of our booth display stuff got stolen last year so our display this year will look totally different how fun is that!
Finally we’re closing out the month in Toronto with Knit City on March 27-29. This will be a big one! There are TONS of vendors in addition to talks and workshops, check their website for more info :)
Hamilton Fibre Market flyer. Sunday March 22, 2026. 10-4 at the Cotton Factory: 270 Sherman Ave N in Hamilton. Bottom half of image is a slightly out of focus cropped view of Worth Mending table at a previous Hamilton Fibre Market event. You can see two Swift Darning Looms and a scattering of brightly coloured tiny tapestries woven on the same loom.
March 22 is the Hamilton Fibre Forge! This kicks off the fibre festival season for us, we look forward to seeing you :) either there orrrr the next weekend ::::

March 19th is our monthly Repair Cafe and Mending Night at Kwartzlab. It’s free! We prefer that you sign up in advance via kwartzlab.eventbrite.com but clothing repair drop-ins are welcome, I'll be there to help :)
Then it’s March Break and you aren’t invited but I’m helping out at Mindful Makers day camp – touring the campers around all the cool things at Kwartzlab Makerspace! You can visit Kwartzlab any Tuesday 7-10 for our open house, or check out our public events calendar at kwartzlab.ca
Digital flyer, background image is a beautiful muted purple cable knit cardigan being repaired with pink and gold yarn. The top half shows the repair in-progress, Elysha's hands darning using a Swift Darning Loom. The bottom half is the "after" image, the cuffs highlighted in gold with a pink-and-gold darn on the right sleeve. This sweater was given to me by a friend and now that it's fixed, it's beloved by my little sister she's so lucky!
This Sunday! If I'm lucky, I'll get to gawk at a bunch of Irish knitwear riddled with holes. Can't wait! Get tickets at irishreallife.ca ($25/pwyc at the KW Art Gallery)
A digital flyer of sorts, with the text worth mending what's happening; march events. the background image is a view from inside a barn on a sunny blue late-feb day, you can see the landscape through the open barn door. in the foreground there are a bunch of willow sticks leaning to the left, and in the middle ground are my stick-sorting pals sorting sticks. This was Agnes' first year growing willow at Steckle (aka Stickle) Farm and I'm so delighted to support her sweet sticky ventures.
Firstly, you do get this cover image I created for IG because well, I need everyone to know that sorting sticks at Steckle Farm (with Agnes of mindfulmakers.ca and swooppublicart.ca) is a very cute and sweet activity
This is a megathread of all my March events! Hope this inspires ya near/far, and please share locally if ya see somethin interesting 😇
#Kitchener #Waterloo #Hamilton #WatReg #HamOnt and I really don't know how to tag Toronto without drowning
