A planner once explained to me that they couldn't just allow low-rise apartments in Neighbourhoods citywide because the lot fabric in North York is different from downtown so you need different rules. But, like, why is it bad if the lot fabric in North York gradually changes over the next 20 years?

Municipalities are forced to increase your property taxes to deliver services that are the Ford government's responsibility, but that they aren't actually providing.
Even though you've already paid your provincial taxes for those services.
So, you're paying twice for services that are worse.
Thinkin' back to the Rob Ford years and how Toronto's city council eventually got it together and took away most of his mayoral powers, along with most of his actual office at city hall, reducing him to a mostly harmless though still intensely embarrassing figurehead.
