CNN put together a montage of Trump saying as far back as March 9 that his war against Iran "is going to be finished pretty quickly," then him saying that same thing over and over for the past six weeks

we've noticed and i'm glad he's getting help
Congress, follow @harrisonmann.bsky.social’s advice. If you want to stop Trump’s reckless and illegal war on Iran, don’t fund it.
You can send Congress the same message here 👇

a screenshot of polling findings about American's disapproval of Trump's war with Iran
The numbers for Trump on his disastrous #IranWar continue to be brutal.
The war, and Trump's handling of it, have been awful for Trump since day 1, but what's often overlooked is the intensity gap is massive and a far bigger problem for him than just the topline opposition. People HATE this war.
New from me: Trump is the attention economy president but is America tuning him out? open.substack.com/pub/ctrlaltr...
A photo of a tray with three sections empty. One has chopped carrot in it. The other has what can only be described as a posit of brown dog vomit and an insole liner of a sneaker (or a used panty liner from the mid 1700s). The kind of meal that would have you happily tossing yourself overboard.
NEW: Growing fears of food shortages on USS Tripoli & other US ships in the Middle East.
This photo is the kind of meals now being served. It was sent by a sailor to her family.
Families are now trying to send food parcels to the ships.

With a final tally of 213-214, the war powers resolution to disengage US forces from the war on Iran failed by a single vote.
Representative Jared Golden of Maine was the sole Democratic lawmaker to vote against the measure. Had he voted for it, it would have passed, handing Trump an historic loss.
A screencap of a tweet from Connor O'Brien sharing the vote outcome
Republicans just once again killed a War Powers Resolution to end Trump's reckless and criminal war in Iran.
Maine Dem Jared Golden was sole Dem no vote & Ohio GOP Rep Warren Davidson switched from previously supporting a WPR to voting "present" to help save Trump and Johnson from losing the vote
It’s tax day!
In addition to the loss of truly free tax filing with Direct File, many taxpayers are facing additional fees when filing.
Forced upgrades to save your data. Upsells for state filing. Processing fees to actually pay your bill. I paid a $29.30 fee just to file in Nebraska.
Trump nicely connecting the lawless boat strikes with his illegal war against Iran.
The killing spree at sea was an inflection point as it established that the US military would in fact carry out unlawful orders and conduct patently illegal targeting.
Vance wasn’t the only top Trump aide who went to Hungary to try to boost Orban before the election. Rubio traveled there in February and promised more economic support to Hungary if Orban remained in power. Here’s my story from Budapest: www.nytimes.com/2026/02/16/w...
Tyrants always look invincible…right up until they’re defeated.
Trump inherited a deal where Iran would have no “NUCLEAR,” confirmed with the most intrusive inspections in history, and he ripped it up and did a little dance because a Obama got it done. Now he’s collapsing our economy and everybody else’s because he’s a moron.
21 Hours in Pakistan: How Vance Tried and Failed to End a War He Opposed
THREAD. This single headline in the NYT contains two outrageous claims reported as fact: 1) Vance "tried" to end the war; and 2) he "opposed" it. Neither is supported, but the thing to understand is: why is lying about the *intention* of powerful people so key to propaganda?
Because literally everything about this administration must be corrupt.

“The Bizarre Connection Between Iran Negotiations and Trump’s Crypto Firm”
@russchoma.bsky.social for @motherjones.com
US President Donald Trump says the US Navy would immediately start blockading the Strait of Hormuz and would also interdict every vessel in international waters that had paid a toll to Iran. https://aje.news/x545rk
We have entered the “you can’t kill me if I commit suicide” phase of American Decline
Trump seems to be going with the strategy of “Iran’s not closing the Strait of Hormuz. I’M closing the Strait of Hormuz!”
It remains painfully obvious how utterly desperate and lost Trump is as he flails wildly about, unable to control the absolute catastrophe he created for no reason whatsoever.
And his quote post of himself
Trump’s response to the ending of talks in Islamabad.
Don’t forget, he’s also the National Security Advisor…
The Secretary of State attending a UFC fight while wartime diplomatic negotiations fail would generate an explosive, front-page, above-the-fold headline for any previous administration

A screen capture of an Axios news story that says: What to watch: Raz Zimmt, director of the Iran program at the Institute for National Security Studies in Tel Aviv tells Axios the primary concern is the extent to which the upcoming talks will address the nuclear issue. "There are three minimum requirements that must be met: the removal of 60% enriched uranium from Iran, the dilution of 20% enriched material to a low level, and the suspension of uranium enrichment for as many years as possible," he said. "If these demands — some of which Iran rejected before the war — are accepted, the war can end with at least one significant achievement. If the war ends with these nuclear capabilities still in Iran, it would constitute a major failure."
It remains truly maddening that the “significant achievement” some are now pointing to as the best possible outcome of this horrific war is a half-assed, much worse version of what was negotiated more than a decade ago in the JCPOA.
Diplomacy worked. War failed.

Now seems like a good time to remind everyone that the only way to destroy an entire civilization overnight is with nuclear weapons, and Donald Trump has the absolute power as President to follow through on that threat. It could take as little as 5 minutes.
Here's how it would go down:
I feel sick to my stomach waiting around to see what atrocity Trump has in mind for the people of Iran this evening. It's hard to fathom our other elected leaders aren't able to check him in any meaningful way. It's an indictment not just of voters but of our whole system. We're ruled by a mad king.
A reminder that the Heritage Foundation architected Project 2025 with Viktor Orbán in mind. Kevin Roberts called modern Hungary “the model” for conservative statecraft.
Far-right authoritarianism is a globally collaborative movement.
Ansari: "Every person in this country needs to be calling R members of Congress relentlessly. Of all of the issues that have come up over last year, all have been devastating, but we're talking about potential for nuclear war here. That is the language Trump is using & we shouldn't pretend it's not"
