So anyway, tldr;

Lawn company performs (half of) surprise, unauthorized lawn removal, then gets fired after insisting on being paid for it. We end up paying someone else to finish it and wind up with a (more expensive) different lawn service.

If I would just pay for the cost of the materials, he would cut the labor costs and finish the job.

I noted, politely, that we hadn't authorized ANY expense. He complained that he had already spent the money on the sod, though.

I told him to come get the rest of his things, and to not return.
