for analysis, sure. but if someone was interested in pursuing a career in environmental science; itโs not any more chem than a biology major requires and when itโs baked into the context of something of interest (soil chemistry, for example); itโs not bad at all.

Not as a career, Iโve just read a few papers as a lab technician for environmental science. Iโm just interested in all kinds of bioremediation (phyto-, myco-, microbial) as a whole.
feels like a good place for me to plug my love of sunflowers as a well-established phytoremediator; particularly heavy metals ๐ค๐ป
well, maybe in direct consumption? but the lecture was centered around studies re: pressures threatening native mussel populations in TN (specifically Clinch River) and sources of microplastics contributing to its microplastic abundance. but to the point of OP, theyโre definitely all around us.
So, something interesting I learned at a lecture from the Dept. Chair of Environmental studies at UTK who kinda specializes in sources of microplastics, is that perhaps the largest contributor to municipal water sources is the rinse cycle of laundry machines. Dang synthetics๐ ๐งฆ, we need filters.

when what was joked about just a few days(? what is time anymore) ago in an ecology lab - asking ourselves how weโd even communicate literally ANY of our research?? fully cooked.

yule log? yeah, yule log off after reading the rest of my posts
that second exclamation point really has me feeling seen, thank you ๐ also, i just thought about it and realized that regardless of brand/generic; boxed mac & cheese macaroni elbows.. arenโt elbows? i mean, this is so they can slide onto fork tines, obvs, but is this a pasta shape reserved for m&c?
feel like this is a good time to admit how critical I am about the order in which ingredients are added to macaroni elbows.
haha, itโs the kind of dad joke that relies hard on delivery
fret not, ye of little faith, do not underestimate the power of ๐ญ tots and ๐ pears, or do; i legitimately donโt know how they work anyway, but i hear about them A LOT.
tots and pears are a popular remedy, iโve heard. i think.

this nice pic just made me learn a new word! โif mushrooms are not close enough to be called a cluster, but are still clearly a group, they are called a troopโ
Well wouldya lookit that nice troop of mushrooms! ๐โ๐ซ

thanks for sharing! I agree with the paper and commentary that itโs a lot of micro-aggressions that accumulate, and in my experience, when that kicks off by coming from another female colleague, that really sucks.
my dreams have gotten, like, covid-times weird again. thanks for the fresh nightmare fuel.

itโs difficult gardening in the squirrel-dominated territory of my backyard. but amidst all the carnage of stolen fruits of my labor, i see a single, solitary bite taken from a spicy boi ๐ถ๏ธ and feel the encouragement of a battle won.
