I needed this shrimp right now. Maybe you do, too.

Ha, fair, but now I’m kind of curious what it looks like there!
I'm bringing back #FollowFriday with this absolute banger of a double-header: @laminda.bsky.social and @bittelmethis.bsky.social.
Two incredibly talented writers who happen to write about science and animals and weird sh*t AND are also just absolutely delightful human beings.
hahaha, fair!
Ha, was just going to say, you are all of those things, too! Fun fact: I just got to meet Mindy *in person* last week!
Happy Bat Appreciation Day from your friends at BCI! 🦇
Speaking of the incredible art, I should mention the artists! Images in the book are by Lisa Monias, who illustrated them from photos taken by Joel Sartore and @brianskerry.bsky.social (both are longtime photogs for National Geographic)
Wooo, thanks, Mindy!! #InternationalBatAppreciationDay
The warblers are coming. But climate change may be messing with their timing. 🧪 www.nationalgeographic.com/animals/arti...
Whoa, thanks for posting that paper! Definitely passing along!
Thanks, Jan!
Seems not good
Heads up! The Revelator @therevelator.org will reopen to pitches from May 4 to May 15. Read the guidelines!

I'm thinking you're right!
An blurry image of a bird’s head peeking out of a wreath
Five bird eggs in a nest, one mottled
Name! That! Bird!
A friend in eastern Pennsylvania has this bird laying eggs on his front door wreath. The eggs look like house finch to me (except the one from a brown headed cowbird 🤣), but the dark stripe on the bird’s head is throwing me.
Thoughts? 🧪🦉
hahaha, the author of Rise of the Zombie Bugs has entered the chat!!
Wandering around, blind and dazed, with eyeballs pulsating stripes of color.
This. But also. Might we all just have a brain parasite? Suddenly concerned my free will has been coopted.
Thanks so much, Lynne! Hope you love it!!
Wooooo!!!!
Love this!!
Hi!
I'm a parasitic wasp smaller than a poppyseed.
There are at least 95 kinds of me, but 94 of us don't even have Wikipedia pages.
I ride around on spiders before laying my eggs on their eggs.
I've probably been around since Pangaea, since before Saturn had rings.
Can I get a share? 🥺🧪
My wide-ranging conversation with wildlife journalist @bittelmethis.bsky.social about his excellent new book, GRIZZLED: therevelator.org/grizzled/
Thank you to @johnrplatt.bsky.social & @therevelator.org for this wonderful and wide-reaching profile/interview about GRIZZLED: Love Letters to 50 of North America's Least Understood Animals! 🧪🐻

"Grizzled is a very different type of field guide, because beyond the facts it always aims to make you care about the species it profiles — often through humor, & just as often through the stories of the passionate scientists & conservationists working to help understand or save these animals." 🧪🐻
Well, that was fucking awe-some.
oh my, that is GORGEOUS!!!
omg, great shots!!!
“We’ve still got two more days, and riding a fireball through the atmosphere is profound as well,” Glover said.
Woof, lots of feels in here.
aw, that's very cool! Where are you located?
