AI will never replace all jobs.

I agree, because I never said ban self driving or have zero car cities. If your goal is safer streets, fewer cars of all types is part of the answer. Self driving, structured currently, will induce a lot of demand. It’s kinda like vaping? Reduce cig use but hook new teens and adults.
Yes do that. But also pushback is warranted on all car fronts because cars are not the future of our cities. Many will see the open arm adoption of self driving and assume that cars are the way to go. They are not.
The underlying assumption is that car A will replace car B when in fact it will basically add itself to the total number of cars, upping the harm level across the board. If we should not release self driving cars without a concurrent plan to reduce ALL private car usage on our roads.
We need hostile regulations on EVERY type of car.
"Automania 2000," 1963, an Oscar-nominated animated short that satirizes America's automobile-obsessed, consumerist culture. A scientist builds absurd cars to satisfy "the public's ever-increasing demands for novelty & status consciousness, with predictable environmental consequences."
I love this
Asking 20,000 regular people what to do about street safety is a bad idea.
Three months after Ottawa removed its automatic safety cameras, the share of drivers following the speed limit plunged from 87% to 41%(!). "High-end speeding" is up 10x.
Automatic enforcement saves lives. If you remove it, people will die.
I like how the addition of the ABS challenge system in Major League Baseball has suddenly made the umpires a lot better 😆. And it’s also made the batters more honest with their criticism.
I just got a rear rack installed for the first time and picked up a free pannier that was donated in my building’s lobby. Them things really change the bike weight and center of gravity compared to a backpack.
I will not ride your bike tomorrow 🤭
Civic pride is a great thing.
Idea: Pub with only one beer. It’s a 4.5% abv lager that is made in house and costs $4 a pint.
Cars are a trap; we need to provide more options

I’m visiting Kentucky, USA, where some drivers opt for the special license plate that says “Friends of Coal”

It’s called a “carry-on” bag because you don’t need to stop at the counter, you can simply carry on.
Those commute trips often turn into other trips instead
Authentic market = private cars? What did we do before 1900?
The renewable revolution will skip the intermediate steps in poorer countries much like they jumped from landlines to cell service internet bypassing wired internet.
I thought bowlero was a small time brand!

Driving is indeed a very dangerous activity no matter where you drive to!
