Petitions are addressed to the House of Representatives and ask that the House do something about a policy or law, or put right a local or private concern.

Remember, Change dot org petitions are basically only good for generating social media buzz and harvesting your email details. If you want to sign a petition that requires Parliament to respond, sign one on the Parliament website. For example, one might "Remove charitable status from Destiny Church".

Can you tell that our Christmas tree is taller than our Christmas tree decorator? 😅

I think there’s a non-zero chance it gets used against doctors if/when it’s passed, given how deep those cuts are becoming

I know this is a joke (I’m smart like that!) - but for those who think you can sack MPs, yeah nah. Problematic. They aren’t employees and have no employment rights or protections.

Strongly disagree with this policy, but also 🤔

Thanks, yeah it can get quite nasty, it got quite bad quite quickly too, and was stubborn to improve, but I have a lot of antibiotics to squash it from here 😌

Also massive thanks and admiration to my wife who kept the routine while also managing to visit me daily.

I’m looking forward to easing back into things, and just generally reflecting on the near miss I had from someone who’s usually quite healthy!

I was discharged today, which I’m relieved about but also have more recovery to come.

I had great doctors, nurses, and hospital staff while I was there, and huge appreciation for the work they do.

Three nights after we got back, the left side of my neck had swollen up and was really painful.

I went to the ED on the 21st, and ended up spending 12 nights in hospital. Two general anaesthetic surgeries in that time, the bacterial sore throat had turned into Lemierre's syndrome.

Anyway, it died down, and I spent a week in Melbourne seeing family and exploring. First time overseas for our 3.5yo and our first family trip overseas since before lockdown. We had a blast, ate great food, and did a lot of steps!

June 2024 was one of the biggest months of my life, and not all for good reason …

I started the month with a sore throat, nothing painkillers couldn’t fix - and while it wasn’t covid I didn’t know at the time it was a bacterial infection
