Almost everything we argue about is a substitute for the thing we should be arguing about: the immense wealth & power of an oligarchic class, which captures governments, ruins lives and wrecks the living planet.
This class redirects our rage at scapegoats. To resist its lies is to resist its power.

my main concern is the harm rather than the output, so i don't really need to hear a product testimonial from someone who found it useful. because i don't care

Thanks to Shamikh Badra and the Guardian for this excellent column. The NSW Supreme Court ruling is crucial: “It is a direct rejection of a political logic that sought to redefine protest from a democratic right into a risk to be managed.”

How South Korea plans to use the Iran crisis to spur a renewables revolution Energy crisis unfolding in Middle East has added political urgency, and more funding, to transform the solar industry in particular

This village uses its solar income on free communal lunches, buses and other communal efforts.“If you divide money as individual income, people feel disconnected. People who didn’t know each other for years now get to know each other within days”

I love everything about this.

more than 70% of incarcerated children and young people in NSW are presumptively innocent (locked up “on remand”). More than half of all incarcerated children, on any given night, in every jurisdiction, are Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children.

Today marks 35 years since the Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody made 339 recommendations to address systemic racism and over-incarceration of First Nations people.

Since then, more than 630 First Nations people have died in custody, including 12 so far in 2026.

A heart-breaking moment captured in an SS photograph of a group of Hungarian Jews at Auschwitz II-Birkenau in or around May 1944.

A child found a flower & is giving or showing it to an older boy.

All the people in the picture were murdered in a gas chamber moments later.

Blasphemy is far too mild a term to describe Trump's tweet presenting himself as God. As I read 2 Thessalonians 2:4, Trump is literally the Antichrist. All who follow him are doomed to burn in hell forever. Harsh, I know, but I didn't make the rules.

Data centers seem to be moving to the front of the line — at least for some equipment — thanks to the jaw-dropping amounts of cash they have on hand. Utilities, meanwhile, often must finance purchases for major pieces of infrastructure.

Harry Sideris, president and CEO of Duke Energy, said at a CERAWeek panel that his company has been doing things they’ve “never dreamed of” to serve data centers.

“We got Caterpillar reciprocating engines on the back of a flatbed — a tractor trailer — to get somebody online three months earlier because they’re making $10 million a day,” Sideris said.

That $10 million a day — that’s for just one data center, he said.

“The cost of doing that is negligible to what they’re making, so doing creative things [to bring them online] is really powerful for them,” Sideris said.

I will never understand how anyone can look at a situation like this and think "man, data centres and AI are really going to help solve climate change and incentivse renewable energy"

School funding is undermining equality and cohesion Australia’s school funding model is widening inequality and weakening public education. Without reform, it risks undermining social cohesion, productivity and democratic stability.

"Australia is one of the few countries, possibly the only one, where there is no limit to the private income and wealth a school can amass without forfeiting public funding"

Albo should STFU about 'social cohesion' while school funding directly undermines it. #auspol
