The research findings provide comprehensive evidence on gender, stigma, human rights, community systems, and behavioural determinants influencing TB outcomes in Kenya.
The goal for this high-level event is to promote coordinated policy uptake and implementation of recommendations emerging from LIGHT research, Community Rights & Gender assessments, KAP and TB Stigma Index surveys, and Digital Chest X-ray impact report.

📍Ahead of the 2026 World Tuberculosis (TB) Day on 24th March, the LIGHT Consortium partners in Kenya, AFIDEP & ReSoK in collaboration with Kenya’s Ministry of Health Division of Tuberculosis and Lung Health the National TB Prog are hosting a Kenya National Stakeholders' Dissemination Forum.
Young people are a key group in the fight against TB.
In Kenya, ages 15–24 account for 20% of TB patients lost to follow-up.
Research from Nairobi County explores why and how youth-friendly TB services could improve care.

The forum provided a strategic platform to review programme performance and tackle priority challenges in TB treatment and care nationwide.
Dr Kathure further committed to regular engagement with the County Health Directors leadership to sustain momentum on these priorities.
As Kenya intensifies its efforts to end TB, county-level leadership remains essential to ensuring services reach the communities most in need.
After the presentations, County Directors of Health discussed effective ways to engage private providers.
Dr Kathure, Head of Kenya's National TB Program, emphasized involving all service providers, including those not currently offering TB services & reaching vulnerable groups like adolescents.
🔸 Rhoda Pola, LIGHT Research Coordinator at ReSoK, presented on age- and gendered TB pathways - covering evidence-informed policy insights, Kenya's experience applying a gender lens across the TB care cascade, and lived experiences of young people with TB in Nairobi County.

🔸 Dr Brenda Mungai, of AFIDEP, provided evidence with reflections on translating gender-disaggregated TB data into action & practical approaches for gender-responsive and youth-friendly TB service delivery across primary health care settings.
The LIGHT partners in Kenya, AFIDEP & ReSoK joined County Health Directors from all 47 counties at a high-level one day round table discussion in Naivasha, convened by the MoH’s National TB Programme to strengthen Kenya's TB response.
