This keeps coming across my feed and my brain immediately jumps to the Alan Parson's Project song "Games People Play".

This is a yote post
A dog stands on a table, posing next a basted peak lapel sport coat. The jacket is being displayed on a dress form.
A dog sitting on the floor, posting next to a basted blue tweed sport coat with notch lapels. The jacket is being displayed on a dress form.
A dog sitting on the floor, posing in front of a wall where three tailored jackets are hanging.
A dog poses on a table. He's surrounded by a tailor's measuring tape.
Every time this tailor posts a photo of their workspace, it looks like their dog is a tailor and he's showing off the garments he made.

Now see, if someone carved/sculpted those ubiquitous "dog wine bottle holders" to be both cute and smutty they would make a KILLING at a Furry convention...
This, or there is a Furry convention happening nearby.
(I joke. Actually it is just as bad at ANY convention. Try being at a business con when the final keynote of the day wraps up and everyone is heading back to their rooms to change for dinner events.)
Celebrating the One Rabbit Year
2026 is the year of One Rabbit [Ce Tochtli] according to the Aztec calendar. The deities celebrating this year are collectively called Centzon Totochtin, or “countless [400] rabbits.” They are gods of pulque (octli), drunkenness, and fertility.
To be fair, the odds of today's Democratic party leadership putting down their snifters of Louis XIII, getting out of their leather armchairs, and actually fighting back were not presumed to be very good.
I'm as surprised as the GOP is, frankly...
Denver is so pretty
Hugos nominations are announced and THE POWER FANTASY is on the list of contenders for Best Graphic Story or Comic, which is just lovely. Thanks to everyone who nominated us, and put us in great company. It's amazing to be part of this.
Life keeps getting weirder and weirder...
There are investor groups focused on social causes more than a 25x ROI, but they are few and for obvious reasons cash-constrained.
But I do feel that with a good enough pitch and a clear enough vision it might be possible. A crowdsourced list of requirements and how it can be sustainable will help.
I'm curious to hear what Mastodon doesn't do. And I am not asking as a gotcha, because I have my own answers to that question; but I'd like to hear what other people think.
An open protocol would ultimately need to be some part of the answer.
Everyone:
Let's crowdsource some thoughts on this. What would be your must-haves and nice-to-haves for a platform like this?
Any ideas about how it should be gated / authenticated?
How should discovery work?
And importantly... How should it be supported financially (not seed, I mean long term)?
So who is going to step up and somehow create a new thing for artists, authors, makers, single traders, indie musicians, all the creatives who lost their platforms? We have an audience, we just got cut off when the social networks went useless. Publisher etc still expect us to do marketing. HOW?!
Cottontail painting from 2023!
In a nutshell. 😊

Brook and Porter are on a road trip across post-apocalyptic Las Vegas, trying to bury a secret that threatens the fragile peace animals have achieve post-humans!
THE IRON BARGE is live on kickstarter 🦦

I feel like the world would be a lot less confusing and scary if someone could just figure out why the bed sheets sometimes come out of the dryer untangled and sometimes come out as a wadded mass the size of a grapefruit with the mass of a neutron star.
This is my favorite time of year. When green comes swooshing back to soften all the edges in the landscapes and our souls. 💚🌱🌿🌳💚
While it took me a biiiiiit longer to finish than I had hoped, he was at least done in time for @roscoedog.bsky.social 's birthday today - so happy birthday ^_^
4 DAYS LEFT to back IRON BARGE on kickstarter! ⚔️✨
I'm also health-conscious so I have been going down the rabbit hole of dry-herb vaping looking for the best way to get the closest thing to the natural herb without inhaling all the negative stuff that comes along with high-temperature combustion.
I've been using those for years; but I am looking forward to trying things that have been grown in dirt, not created in a lab.
The hybridization and crossing of c.sativa and c.indica has a long and fascinating history, and in typical me fashion it presses all my nerdy plant buttons.
However things are kind of a mess right now as demand outstrips supply, there's lots of little caveats and restrictions on what and how they can sell, and lots of places are popping up calling themselves cannabis shops but just stocking the same old hemp isolates that were already legal.
Happy 4/20 day!
Almost two years after MN legalized recreational use, shops are finally being allowed to open.
Mind you, the delay was for a good purpose as the state slow-walked licensing to make sure native and disenfranchised populations got first dibs AND ensured they were legit.
