At the very least there should be stricter licensing requirements, higher registration, and big insurance riders required for anything bigger than a half ton.
I can see ranchers needing a 2500 or 3500, but nothing like that should be bopping around town on a whim.
Photo I took of these wonderful people (the faces of whom I’ve blacked out) singing happy Birthday to their lovely old dog at a bar I was at tonight in Portland
I was at a dog-friendly bar in NW Portland tonight and a table behind me started singing Happy Birthday and then I realized it wasn’t for a person but a really old dog who was wearing a crown and he was old and fucking adorable and I love this city
Have you ever seen a caribou this big??

It has been "bad" for a while, but it feels like they plugged AI into it very recently and now it is just... stupid. Like, Apple Maps v1.0 levels of stupid.
Has anyone else gotten the impression that Google Maps has very suddenly gotten demonstrably worse?
I was using it Thursday to get to the open mic pitch event and it took me the worst possible way at every decision point.
Today I was looking for a store category and it kept telling me none exist.
In SF and Silicon Valley, it’s huge pay packages for AI workers and the threat of layoffs for everyone else, leading to disparities in who can afford to live there and who feels their future is bright.

It's insane that we're getting incredibly animated trailers like this for indie games, board games and even graphic novels lately.

A comic of two foxes, one of whom is blue, the other is green. In this one, Blue is sitting by himself, reading a book, as he hears a strange rumbling sound. Blue looks up from his book, looking confused. Blue, thinking: What kind of a person rearranges furniture this late at night? The noise repeats, and Blue turns his head to look towards the direction it came fron. Blue, still in thought: There it was again. Investigating the source of the sound, Blue finds Green sleeping on the floor. The noise he heard was Green snoring. Blue, thinking: Oh.
Orbán rode to power on resentment over the economic stagnation that developed under center-left governments. But he leaves office with Hungarians facing falling wages and higher inflation than similar countries are experiencing. Orbán’s sectarianism and intolerance have sparked neither a religious revival nor a fertility bump; Hungary’s population is shrinking and has become more irreligious, even as Orbán has demonized LGBTQ people, “Muslim invaders,” and Jews. Orbánism, in short, did not make Hungarians more rich, Christian, or free—unless you happened to be one of Orbán’s buddies, in which case you may have gotten rich. As most Hungarians felt their economic circumstances worsen, Orbán provided them with relatively powerless targets to hate.
Orban made grand appeals to “Christianity” and “Western Civilization,” but his “illiberal democracy” was just a scam, a way to make him and his buddies rich while subjecting Hungarians to stagnation and robbing them of their freedom. Sound familiar? (Gift link) www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...
I was there as a member of the community, but also to pitch Sofawolf Press MKII. Purely for practice of course, as this was not the right venue by any means. I still got a couple good tips.
I went first and promised them it would be the weirdest pitch they heard all night, and I delivered.
Of course this was a beginner's room, so the pitches weren't expected to be good.
But it feels to me like we're at the stage where unless you are radically redefining AI-the-engine, you should probably just find some other thing.
It's all been done, and it's all likely to break soon anyway.
I was at an open-mic pitch night for early stage startup founders last night.
85% of the ~20 pitches had something to do with AI.
90% of those were pitching solutions to problems that don't really need solving, and if they did you could solve them by just using AI correctly.

The Croton needs more space and I have no idea where to put the Dracaena. I may have to assemble another shelf to the side under the window for those.
A blue frog planter filled with succulents. The frog has an expression of disbelief and concern, with which I can relate. Above it is a drum with huskies painted on it by Foxfeather, with Blotch are left and right. A plush wombat and the Biting Pear sit on the shelf with the frog.
A wide view of the whole plant stand setup. Still working on placement and LED lighting, and I have too many tall plants to fit the current shelves, but getting there. My birding parabolic mic stands in the front, ready for easy deployment.
Starting to get my office filled out with plants. Got some seeds starting and repotted a bunch of things yesterday.
Couldn't resist the frog succulent planter at the garden center. That frog has seen things, man...
A billion dollars is the socio-economic equivalent of a loose nuke, and we should work to prevent the acquisition of the former with the same urgency and ruthlessness we use to prevent the acquisition of the latter.

NEW: A new pre-print study offers the first causal evidence that outsourcing reasoning tasks to AI can rapidly erode users' independent performance AND their will to persist despite difficulty.
"People’s persistence drops... they’re also not willing to try without AI.”

Still not sure how AI tech bros expected presenting their scam as something that'll "replace all the jobs and make everyone irrelevant and also it's pointless to resist cause that's the nature of progress" to go over well with the public
already?! but I haven't even set up the #portfolioday tree or hung the stockings! 😰
Hi. I'm Keesh. I draw to make myself and others smile. I like to try different styles but I like to think I have a fairly distinctive one I use a lot.
I also like drawing bums.
