“Why would we, ... in the name of protecting people, create a whole other legal mandate that requires the collection and storage of even more personally identifying information that would be subject to either data thieves or data breaches?” EFF’s @aaronmackey.bsky.social told @nbcnews.com.
The Free Speech Coalition is serious about starting an adult industry credit union. Part of this is being able to show regulators that enough people would use it, so please fill out this form if you're interested!
(Yes, credit unions can issue credit cards!)

I told the Globe “incredibly disappointing to hear the governor say that she supports the social media ‘ban’ legislation that just passed the House, which is completely unworkable, unconstitutional, and lets Big Tech off the hook while punishing parents and teens”

The team @fightforthefuture.org also got a page up with a simple call tool where you can enter your number, it will call your phone and connect you with your Massachusetts State Senators.
It even gives you a simple script with talking points about the legislation.

URGENT! The Massachusetts House just passed a "social media ban" that would force YOU to upload a government ID or submit to a face scan to post online. CALL YOUR STATE SENATORS! 978-485-4694
Okay bluesky I need your help
I live in Massachusetts. You might think we're a bastion of lefty intellectualism but our state government a clusterfuck of post-puritan real estate bros
Reskeet this. Text it to your "friends from home"
Help this find every masshole poster who will know what to do
Here’s what I’ve been saying: even if you think kids should be off social media you should oppose this bill.
It lets Big Tech off the hook while punishing parents. It will force you to upload your government ID to post online, and will force parents upload sensitive docs like birth certificates
Excellent letter in the @bostonglobe.com today from a Northeastern researcher who is an expert on teen social media use.
In sum: yes Big Tech social media companies are harmful. But this legislation lets them off the hook and would cause even more harm

MASSACHUSETTS!
The social media ban legislation that passed the House is a nightmare for online privacy and safety, would force YOU to upload a gov ID to post online, and would harm LGBTQ youth and undocumented families.
@fightforthefuture.org is organizing a sign-on for MA orgs opposed. DM me!
The DNC Resolutions Committee has passed my resolution to hold Trump Administration officials legally accountable for their crimes.
Assuming the whole packet passes on Friday, it will become the official position of the national Democratic Party.
STATEMENT: Massachusetts House advances unconstitutional social media ban bill that will harm LGBTQ youth and human rights www.fightforthefuture.org/news/2026-04...
When it really comes down to it, so many of these "protect the children" bills are actually rooted in like 1800s social norms of children should be seen and not heard. They're inherently saying that young people have nothing valuable to say or add to society. They're about domination, not protection
🪡🧵The MA State House advanced HB 5349, a draconian, unconstitutional bill to ban minors from social media, force platforms to enable parental surveillance of teens’ online activity & subject everyone to online ID checks to access info or speak out online. www.wgbh.org/news/politic...
“This legislation would have kicked Greta Thuneberg off social media before she organized her first climate protest. How does that make kids safer?”
www.fightforthefuture.org/news/2026-04...
“We need to think very carefully about the ramifications of what that would mean for innovation on the internet and what that would mean for the openness and freedoms that we all enjoy.”
very cool that Massachusetts lawmakers, who spend all day every day talking about how they're protecting us from Trump, just passed the "upload your ID to the Palantir database in order to access social media" law while saying they're "protecting the kids"
Microsoft silently suspended developer accounts for WireGuard, VeraCrypt & Windscribe.
Zero warning. Zero notification. Zero recourse. This isn't just a support failure, it's the result of Big Tech gatekeeping. Newest video breaks it down: https://youtu.be/fTui3CQuL9I
The new social media ban in Massachusetts is so sweeping in its definition of "social media" that it would require age-verification for Wikipedia.
You don't protect kids by cutting off resources.

Screenshot from article highlighting text that reads “But there's another important—if less prevalent—argument against the age verification laws sweeping so many states: They may ensnare way more than just pornography. Enacted as regulations of any content "harmful to minors," these could be used against sex educators, sexual health organizations, reproductive freedom groups, sex worker rights advocates, transgender rights advocates, and queer creators of all sorts.”
Online ID checks (so-called Age Verification mandates) will ruin the internet. This doesn’t just impact sex educators, it impacts everyone.

Incredibly, the social media ban bill being voted on in the Massachusetts legislature is even worse and more draconian than many similar bills that have passed in red states.
It contains “parental surveillance” measures so controversial they were removed from KOSA
unworkable & unconstitutional
One more reason to get away from Windows. VeraCrypt is excellent software!!

‼️MA age verification vote is TODAY‼️ Queer & Trans youth have begged Democratic lawmakers for years to stop pushing online id checks as these systems can wall off vital community life-lines & resources, yet lawmakers refuse to listen.

So this is pretty terrible. And the vote is tomorrow. Massholes, call your lawmaker ASAP at 978-485-4694 and tell them to vote NO on dangerous age verification and social media bans: www.wbur.org/news/2026/04...

the trump administration is selling this country wholesale to rapacious, extractive industries that will destroy our collective resources for private profit morethanjustparks.substack.com/p/breaking-t...
I read through the article and through the letters sent to these paypros and you guys should too (like please actually read them, don't rely on me). It specifically cites religious and political views but the language is wide open. This is good
If you didn’t know, Saturday is No Kings Day ❌👑! There are over THREE THOUSAND events planned all over the WORLD!
Every few days I see someone from out of the US wonder why no one in the US is protesting. And that just isn’t true. The thing is, the US is HUGE. Everyone cannot possibly congregate in one central location, so there are smaller protests across the country.
And, that’s not a bad thing. The way our government works, having smaller events in red areas has more of a chance of changing hearts and minds than any single massive protest could ever have.
But that means, unless it’s a massive day of protest all around the world, like Saturday will be — from the outside, it looks like no one is protesting at all.
Do NOT minimize No Kings❌👑 on Saturday!

please keep making calls about these bills and policies!
