Nice to see the devotion to the first amendment from dear leader.

Buc-ee’s is not so much a convenience store as a destination. They may sell food and have clean restrooms, but the real goal is moving beaver-emblazoned underwear and bedazzled cow skulls out of the store and into your trunk. You don’t stop there if you need to get back on the road quickly.
But trying to spark “ethnic conflict” in South Africa because a South African immigrant has his panties in a twist is just fine?
Crazy lady doesn’t understand that the federal government isn’t supposed to produce revenue.
Tesla shareholders should start emailing Musk asking to understand what he got done for the company last week, aside from destroying the brand’s goodwill worldwide.
Screen shot of a CNN article from September 2024 headlined “Trump says Jewish voters will bear ‘a lot’ of blame if he loses.”
It doesn’t feel to me like the threats to scapegoat Jewish Americans were subtle.
NYC can handle losses like this better than many local governments.
If my city lost its federal funds, it would need to raise property tax rates by 50% to make up for the loss.
(In my state, property taxes are one of the few revenue streams that local governments control.)
I think if people knew how much money local governments get from the feds they would support this lawsuit. Sure there’s an argument to be made that it’s too much, but to yank back funds after they’ve been promised and the city has built its budget is to sow chaos.
Two white tailed deer stand in the woods, calm but alert, looking to their right at the camera. There’s snow on the ground and on the tree trunks and branches. It’s a cold overcast morning.
Someone asked if we had any cat pictures, but the best I can do today is deer. We surprised them raiding our bird feeder, but obviously they are not terribly scared of us.
If he believes middle class American taxpayers making less than $250,000 will see a dime from these massive spending cuts, he’s dumber than his dad.
Is Rand Paul endorsing the whole King Trump thing? Cause that seems like it should be a dealbreaker for a libertarian.
And also practicing law without a license. 🤪
?
Congress doesn’t overturn Supreme Court decisions. Congress can amend a law that the Supreme Court has found unconstitutional to try to make it constitutional. But the Supreme Court’s decision still stands.
Another day, another WTF moment.
“The President and the Attorney General (subject to the President’s supervision and control) will interpret the law for the executive branch, instead of having separate agencies adopt conflicting interpretations.”
“The President and the Attorney General (subject to the President’s supervision and control) will interpret the law for the executive branch, instead of having separate agencies adopt conflicting interpretations.”
If by “fixing the government” you mean firing people who actually know how stuff works so that even the most vulnerable functions such as monitoring nuclear stockpiles are wide open to a teenaged hacker, then yes, President Trump is using his second to fix the government.
I guess I felt like the messiah thing was more of a front 8 years ago. But you’re right, he’s always claimed to be the only one!
I think I preferred Trump when he was just greedy and didn’t also have a messiah complex.
I read this to my husband and he remarked that lately he feels like a man who is swimming, but everyone is trying to save him from drowning.
Frankly, I could also do with less saving.
The Eric Adams case standoff ends with a veteran prosecutor agreeing to handle the dismissal, apparently in order to spare all of his colleagues from being fired.
I hope the judge refuses to grant the motion, at least until hearing testimony about this.
The rumor is the “new guard has put all of the public integrity attorneys in a room, some 22 of them, and given them an hour to choose someone to sign a dismissal of the Adams case, or all of them will be fired.”
This is beyond crazy.
If Musk’s power and influence were limited to that of a middle class teenaged girl I don’t think anyone would be concerned.
This is an astonishing sentence for a lawyer to have written.
Constitutional principles don’t change based on the politics of the president.
(At least, not until that President has had the opportunity to appoint enough Supreme Court justices to swing the Court’s ideology in his favor.)
“Armors very well”, but watch out for lawn sprinklers!
Dems don’t have to take up arms over every harebrained scheme. But Trump is doing real lasting damage now. Dems need to be pushing back on those actions.
“Let’s retreat and let him destroy the federal government and run roughshod over the constitution and punish blue states while handing their tax dollars to red states” doesn’t seem like a winning strategy.
This feels like the definition of fuck around and find out.
