Ooo this is a good idea 👀

Insane. Reminds me of this hilarious (and menacing!!) clip from Kylor Brakeman www.instagram.com/reel/CaFwKWm...
Now that I have physically unclenched from yesterday’s imminent threat of nuclear war, I am returning to my regularly-scheduled Silly Goose™️ programming
Made a parody song about the impossibility of deciphering DC parking signs

100%. And “nuke-y” is my new least favorite word. What a time to be alive…

What a cool arrangement - thank you so much for sharing this!
I’m so excited about the Octet movie news! It never even would have occurred to me as a candidate for a mainstream movie musical but now I can’t wait
Every day I spend with medical data that includes ICD e-codes for external causes of injury yields new insights. Learned that there is an injury activity code for “horseplay”
(no codes for: tomfoolery, hijinks)
esp because so many of them are thinking/wondering about the same vulnerable things and it would provide such comfort to know others are thinking the same
^ *or "Why didn't you ask that to *a* real life person who could advise you on the issue - another friend, a teacher, a parent, etc."
This is exactly what's so crazy and disturbing to me - every day I hear about another use of ChatGPT where I'm like "Why didn't you just ask that to the real person in question?!" And now the machine *knows* what people are too afraid to ask each other...terrifying times
Yes!! I literally made up a routine called “More than Zero” where the *only* requirement was that I had to spend > zero minutes a day on a particular dreaded project, and any amount more than zero = wild success. It helped me overcome fear-of-starting and once I started working, it was easier
(we have a weather guy who sent a gazillion tornado safety tips last week which I did appreciate but read in aggregate form 🫡)
^this is precisely why I have the notifications muted…i know exactly who would be sending 100+ messages abt a frog plague & I simply do not have the bandwidth
enticing offers on the apt building WhatsApp thread… hard 2 resist such a pitch
this is me when I accidentally have a Google Doc open in two windows then freak out at seeing another cursor blinking in the doc
important read from Jeneen Interlandi at NYT with firsthand accounts from inside the CDC www.nytimes.com/interactive/...
I am very excited to see where this leads! (I usually consider myself a musical theater person but somehow have very little familiarity with this musical 😭)
a preliminary survey for the next component of my research: if you're willing to tell me about your connection to the movie/musical 1776...

!!!
And in 2020, of all years!! State-level tech contracts for Covid vaccine registration portals were such a major chaos element in vaccine rollout (I was trying to pitch this as a a public health PhD dissertation topic in 2020 and was also unsuccessful 😭)
NEW: Tornado watch issued for entire area until 7 p.m.
NWS has issued a tornado watch for the entire region until 7 p.m. Remember that a watch means ingredients are in place for tornadoes, not a guarantee. But if a WARNING is issued, seek shelter immediately.

It reminded me of this enlightening but infuriating piece from The Cut a while ago that flips around the perspectives (in a useful way, imo!) www.thecut.com/article/draf...
oh no, now I'm looking up affordable theater venues in DC where I could stage a gigantic cabaret / musical revue featuring suffrage and anti-suffrage songs from the Library of Congress sheet music collection - this is escalating quickly (I'm off from work today fwiw)
oh no, now I'm trying to convert some of the archived sheet music in to MIDI files... plz send help
lyrics from a song expressing mixed sentiments about women gaining the right to vote
to be fair the picture above is from a song about suffrage that goes on a whole journey, expressing dismay about what household tasks will be neglected "when women go to vote" but ultimately maybe sort of coming around to it in the very last verse?... What a ride www.loc.gov/resource/mus...
😆this is great!!
picture from the cover sheet of a song "When Women Go To Vote" with a tired father caring for children and a suffragette leaving the house
I am burrowing ever-deeper down the rabbit hole of women's suffrage song sheet music curated by the Library of Congress; what a trip. Particularly striking are the ANTI-suffrage songs, especially the cover art with pics like this

^posted with apologies to polling experts; it was so long ago and I feel like people actually conducting and analyzing polls would either really love this or really hate it 😆 at the time I was still personally reeling from the 2016 election results
