Remember that libraries are proof that not every goddamned thing needs to be “for profit.”
If it's helpful to schools and teachers, below is the link to a year's worth of picturebook assembly suggestions that have a focus on empathy, diversity, equality and inclusion. They're all books I've used and loved. #edusky padlet.com/Jon_Biddle/r...
“The sheer number of people still facing hunger and hardship across the UK is heartbreaking. This cannot go on.” 💬
More than 277,000 people visited a food bank in the Trussell community for the first time between April and September this year. ⬇️

Poor by Katriona O Sullivan is a must-read for everyone who works in Education. Well, actually, everyone full stop. I cannot recommend it enough. Would like to buy every daily mail reader a copy!
The front cover of a book called Poor by Katrina O’Sullivan. It shows a young girl in a yellow dress climbing a wall with the word POOR written in the skyline above the wall.
I finished audiobook of Poor by Katrina O’Sullivan on my way home. Sobbed through the entire last chapter. I have lots to process and I want to get a physical copy to pick out some of the lines that really hit home. This should be an essential read for every policy maker, teacher, authority figure
A troll’s only purpose in life is to troll you. Your anger is like oxygen to them.
When you take that away from them, they shrivel up and die.
What’s up, Bluesky! 👋
Just completely fucking pinned down. Glorious.

Please spare a thought for James Dyson, the Brexit-voting billionaire who bought up 33,000 acres of farmland to avoid tax then moved his business to Singapore. He's the real victim here.
This is a Very Important Starter Pack of Biscuit Connoisseurs. For now, I’ve included people I personally know to have acceptable taste in biscuits. But if you’d like to be added to the list, just reply to this with your top three biscuits, in order, and I shall carefully consider your application
#Inequality
It's fairly safe to say that many of the world's problems can be traced back to one major issue: inequality.
And I am yet to see one skill from the DT programme of study (aside cooking) that can not be practised at the good old 'junk modelling' table 😂
With oracy, reading, and writing being so low, it really does seem crazy to be sending children to KS2 who might (and I stress the might) be able to use a timeline, but that can't speak in a full sentence.
100%
Remove History, Art, DT and Music from KS1 'programme of study', as countless schemes of 'progress' for these subjects have killed the joy they had. Keep them as subjects, but to be explored how they are in EYFS. Simplify English, less but better. Make all subjects have a high oracy focus.

The number of women waiting for gynaecology care in England has more than doubled in the last 5 years.
That’s more than 760,000 people waiting right now.
We must encourage the Government to fix this urgently.

Today we have heard the shocking news 36% of UK children are now living in poverty. Every politician should be laser focused on ending it for good. I’m joining forces with @bigissue.bsky.social in calling for a POVERTY ZERO LAW - a statutory duty for every gov’t to set POVERTY REDUCTION TARGETS

Whoop! Level playing field 😂

An advert for a company called Magibook. The headline reads "Turn HARD books into EASY books with Magibook! Maximize your reading potential and avoid difficult language today." Underneath is two covers of The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Above the first cover is the original version of the opening sentence (captioned "Turn Hard Books"), which reads "In my younger and more vulnerable years my father gave me some advice that I've been turning over in my mind ever since." Above the second cover (captioned "into Easy Books") is a simplified version, which reads "When I was young, my dad told me something that I still think about."
THE BELL JAR
HARD ❌
It was a queer, sultry summer, the summer they electrocuted the Rosenbergs, and I didn't know what I was doing in New York
EASY ✅
That summer was sizzling, and so were the Rosenbergs
