“Canadian prairie” when it looks just like an extended-family-sized cabin we stayed in up on a mountain on the NC/SC border

They’ve been doing amazing things with Honeycrisp varietals. What I want to see is something with the bakeable texture of a Granny Smith, but the flavor of a Honeycrisp.
That’s a thousand dollar idea right there.
I feel the need to stick up for all my fellow stage managers, and: the best athletes don’t usually make the best coaches or managers or any other kind of leadership in their sport BECAUSE they were the best, I thought we knew this fact a while ago.
Hmm yes they both retired after the 2024 season, right? So I guess they both count as the last, although Sinc played her last game after Barnie did.
Probably!
Oh no, that means I missed when the last player older than me retired (Marta is a few months younger than me)
Airports have far more differences of personal experience than most cities of similar sizes, that’s where you can really get arguments.
I have the dog’s winter jacket hung over her summer cooling vest on the hooks by the door right now.
Into every generation a new adaptation of Romeo & Juliet with contemporary pop music is born, and & Juliet continues to be DELIGHTFUL.
there’s one girl who opted for white slacks instead of a floofy gown. I shall be watching her future career in women’s sports with great interest
yes please and thank you
FIX IT
I read an article about publisher consolidation for my editing class in 2022 and was confused for an entire page when “the turn of the century” didn’t line up with my memory of companies in 1900 . . . it meant 2000.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ at least I’m now my mother’s favorite Megan born in 1985 once again
Oh no there’s a new @washingtonspirit.com cherry blossom t-shirt collection
Are we also going to get easy-transit venues and little countries with short travel times? And get rid of college sports which exclusively take place during that time frame? No?
I use mineral sunscreen because it doesn’t irritate my skin more - especially on my face - and, unfortunately, the stuff that’s over $20/oz really is significantly more comfortable to wear. Blue Lizard sensitive sheer face is good for being about $10/oz.
A few years ago - 2022? maybe 2023? my sister-in-law was proud to tell us how she wrote out all of her accomplishments, achievements, goals reached, future goals, upcoming projects, etc. for her annual review and put the information into an AI program to “write the review” for her.
What are games in Chicago and Denver going to be like in the winter? How late will the league wait to postpone a game when freezing rain starts in the morning and makes everything ice? Do teams have enough snow prep for all the leagues to share the same stadium for the same months?
We joked that it should be called the SheBeFreeze Cup when games were in PA, NJ, & Ohio in late Feb because it was so cold. The Columbus games in 2018 had every kind of precipitation at once, plus howling winds which just sent the ball in the opposite direction. I couldn’t feel my feet in my boots.
But we know at least a few days in advance of terribly hot games. The league could move them to evening or night kickoffs to get out of direct, cloudless sun.
A game could be below freezing without a day’s warning. We’ve left games early or not gone at the last minute when sleet or 40F rain pops up.
We have absolutely ROASTED at games June-Sept in DC, NC, Houston, KC, and FL. Back in 2019? (it was when we still used cash) we drank $60-70 of water between the two of us at one Courage game. We pay more to park closer for midday Spirit games in the summer because that 3/4 mile walk is a beast.
There’s also the reality that winter weather in many NWSL markets is extremely chaotic and can suddenly make games hazardous in a way that the league has trouble to predict and mitigate. Heat is deadly, yes, but it’s never a complete surprise (despite what a certain commissioner thinks).
Professional sports are their own entities, of course, but - particularly for women’s sports - there are many fans of women’s college soccer, basketball, softball, etc. who might choose the significantly less expensive collegiate tickets than the ever-rising prices of NWSL season tickets.
I understand the stated reasons for a fall/spring calendar for soccer, but it would overlap even more than it already does with college sports.
The NWSL starts even before March Madness and ends the week before the last regular season game of football.
I hadn’t seen the home-and-away series announcement, that’s awesome!
I think my partner and I would need separate seats (she went to Duke and I spent most of the 90s in CT) but we’ll definitely try to make it.
Oh you’re Catholic and you disagree with the Pope? Maybe you should make a list of all the things you disagree with. Really dig deep, make it a nice long list. 95 seems like a good number. And then post that list somewhere he can see it, like maybe nailed to a church door.
For me, it’s only faster because no one wants to employ people with actual cashier experience (specifically Target, they told me that they couldn’t hire me because I had “too much experience” which sounded like “you’d know we don’t follow laws”) so of course I can check myself out with some speed.
