"The Lost Lenore" was painted for my first collaboration with the #drawing tablet company Wacom. The piece is an interplay between Edgar Allan Poe's classic poem, "The #Raven", and the Valkyries of Norse #Mythology.

Watch out for her at Mahtay Café in St. Catharines, CA this December!🖤

Green-eyed Noemi the baking witch hushes a magic spell from her ruby lips and gilded cake decorating hand, wearing a cotton candy collared coat with peppermint buttons, cinnamon buns in her curly red hair and bright, sprinkles makeup. This piece, titled “Noemi the Witch”, is from digital painter FAYBEL’s work-in-progress, fantasy-fairytale “The Rag Doll Princess”.

“Weird Tales” Exhibition Excerpt: “Noemi the Witch”

“The Red Woman hushed, talon to mouth, lips stirring swift—a whisked smuggish smile, “Shush, my child, have not a peep, lest the pastries be soured—in the quiet retreat.” A deep beast moaned, dour in defeat, as the floorboards fizzed fires, licks of emerald from the labyrinthine beneath.”

~ from “The Rag Doll Princess”, an original fairytale

Below its derelict catacombs, in a lush, candy-coated labyrinth, spilling with animated toys and peppermint, pretzel-legged arachnids, Noemi, a mystical baking Witch, batches pastries and treats for 42 child-snatching goblins. In tenuous unity, they toil down deep, creeping the bowls of the walking city Amblebread.

The Illustration

On a path entombed by emerald magic, in a theatrical, deceptive manoeuvre, Noemi guides a throng of goblin-lured children to the Amblebread Creature’s core, a walking beast of cosmic terror—their city’s guard, its guise against the Ourobim, a pestilence storied to chase the Amblebread city on the back of its creature before time remembered.

I was in my editor and co-ordinator roles this week, but there was also some painting in there too!😆 Lots of unexpected positive progress! This might have been the best week I’ve had in a long while. That aside, I always appreciate being tagged, Garrett, so thank you!❤️🎨😊

Digital artist FAYBEL’s fantasy illustration of a dark witch with celestial hair and “art nouveau” represented protection/warding magic motifs, on a gold and deep blue classic witch’s hat and loose fitting robes, sitting on a black slate stone in a wintry sunset scene, with an animated gold and black skull billowing dark-magic, speaking to her with a final request on behalf of the Alchemist, from the romantasy narrative “Timbretock”. “The Final Request” will be used as a potential cover artwork and in advertising graphics for artist submissions to “Art of the Phoenix: Path to the Inner Self”, a special, work-in-progress, publication between FAYBEL and 365 Art + Magazine in Japan.

Spirits haunt a wintry lake amid the frozen dawn. “The Final Request” is a tale of sorrowful acceptance and rebirth: it illustrates the final conversation between the Alchemist and Miyako from my #romancefantasy "Timbretock".❄️

(Part 2) I have finally partnered with 365 Art + Magazine to create/act as guest primary editor on a special issue of their publication (no-AI) called “Art of the Phoenix: Path to the Inner Self”📘🐦‍🔥. This painting is one of our possible cover pieces & we will be opening submissions in the new year.😃

(Part 1) As do I! I think that that is the true magic of social media or at least one of the most incredible opportunities platforms like Bluesky make accessible to so many creative people.💖✨ Btw, Lesley, do you remember the magazine opportunity I discussed with you quite some time ago?

Thanks, Dan!💖😃 I’m looking forward to sharing more about this piece—I might try making some art process videos for it over the holidays. I hope you’re having a great weekend!

I started to and have been meaning to finish the series in audiobook format.🥰 My local library has the entire set last I checked: its atmospheric writing was breathtaking from my memory. I can imagine loving to do cover art for romance fantasy series beyond my own like this. Thank you, Justin!💖

I’ll make a note of FLCL—I do enjoy watching anime from time to time, but for the moment I spend most of my time listening to audiobooks while painting.✍️🎧💖

I have to jump over to IG, but I will be back here again on and off.😊
