Businesses have been paying for quick, bad translations for a few years now. The price /word has been driven so low.
As a result, the bar in terms of acceptable quality is low too. Who cares if it makes sense?

And AI exacerbates it.
Quality and accuracy are no longer aims.
It’s speed and money.

Politicians wringing their hands over why teachers are leaving the profession. The truth is, we'd get more people staying in teaching if our various Governments understood that the real purpose of education is *not* to build a compliant workforce, but a society of well-rounded individuals...

The semicolon had its moment; that moment is over The decline of the semicolon reflects a deeper cultural and intellectual laziness. We need to rediscover the power of punctuation.

Honoured to have had an early read of this incredibly important book and be quoted on the cover.

It’s a comprehensive exploration of representation in British children’s literature and the industry around it. It’s important and vital for anyone working in or with children’s books. /1

just stumbled on a real jaw-dropper of a line in an essay -- “The corollary of being interested in a great range of things is to have sympathy with a great range of outlooks” -- and that, my friends, is why reading is so important.

READING ALOUD CHANGES CHILDREN'S LIVES FOREVER! Just 10 minutes a day can be enough to help them find the love of books, and become lifelong readers. So whatever else you do, always find the time to read aloud – and the more you do, the better! #literacy #reading #books
