A journalist asks US Secretary of State if the US operation constitutes war crimes, threatening to wipe out a civilisation. The NZ Foreign Minister smiles in response. He does not represent the NZ people. We oppose Trump’s war crimes and stand for peace and international law.

When you buy Harry Potter, you are *literally* hurting trans people and queer people. In real life. She uses that money to lobby for legislation that hurts transgender people. And she is winning! Due to the massive amounts of money that you give her.
Watching a video discussing the rise of “tradwives,” and the host—a queer woman—just used the term “gender ideology” to mean “forcing people into traditional gender roles,” and I found that super refreshing.
It SHOULD mean that. Rather than “trans people wanting to exist.”
Yup, I think I'd probably get into an argument about politics, religion, equality, misogyny, race and gender if forced to hang out with almost any composer, author or artist pre 1950, & definitely pre 1900
Having said that there are still some complete arses I can't abide after learning about them
Once again reupping my newsletter about JK Rowling and "separating the art from the artist"

True, but unfortunately I don't really have the cash to buy another copy anyway.
I will suggest the local library gets a copy (they don't as yet have the title) and then at least I can get it out and grope it a little. 🥰
Cis people need to pay attention to the way they communicate this. They freely admit that after all of their research, they came up with zero evidence that HRT was harmful.
Then they banned it anyway, claiming their inability to find a reason is a reason in of itself.
A mockup of a hardback of The Raven and the Reindeer. It is snazzy and has printed edges.
Behold, the shiny cover for the shiny new UK edition of Raven & Reindeer!
Oh, soooooo pretty.
Now I'm regretting the paperback I rushed out for 😒🙄
...I might be able to justify it if I can find a worth gift recipient for my first copy....
Holy crap.
"Prolonged exposure to above-normal oxygen partial pressures, or shorter exposures to very high partial pressures, can cause oxidative damage to cell membranes, collapse of the alveoli in the lungs, retinal detachment, and seizures."
Dear God.
Also, hyperoxia not harmless and you can get pulmonary and ocular toxicity at normal pressure (like in a car with all the windows up, not a hyperbaric chamber)
"Symptoms may include disorientation, breathing problems, and vision changes such as myopia.
I saw a great article about the intense body transformations that happen to dancers if they train intensively through childhood/puberty. And the irreversible changes (not w/out risk for later in life) especially to the hip joints are huge
Not seeing the same panic about kids in tutus though are we?
If hormones, or puberty blockers, were so dangerous, nobody would be allowed them.
That some people are and that trans kids can even, notionally at least, stay on them if already prescribed, tells you all you need to know.
Yay!
That is going in the calendar
I would argue that a venn diagram of parents who didn't value empathy as something to teach their kids and parents who have had adult children go no contact is a circle.
People don't go no contact for no reason.
Stop asking victims of abuse to forgive their abusers
The inevitable headlines are always laughable, and the emergency evacuated centres are usually at the local marae, because iwi know better than to live in the path of the river's original course.
We have braided rivers in Aotearoa, beautiful things where a single river channel divides into many smaller strands as it nears the shoreline.
Most of them have been subverted for human use in the last 150 yrs, & every time there's a major rain event their banks revert to their original paths.
Yeah.
But what's the point of being a billionaire if you can't change the public narrative from the bleeding obvious to something you can profit from?
Unfortunately too many people fall for their crap. Look at the MuskRats plan to settle the Moon
It's high past time they were all yeeted into the sun
Generally those stories nearly all involve a corporation then owning the entirety of the newly terriformed planet & every living creature on it inc humans.
And so far the earths oligarchy haven't managed to wing that just yet here, so from a cost/end profit pov the former is a clear winner for them
I keep my main ones on top of my head.
Which is fine until a passing gust of wind blows them off my head (it's a mite blowey here, gusts to gale force 2/3s of the year) or I stand up under something like the rear car door & drive them into my scalp 😬
Only broken them once, my head's not so lucky.
I need reading glasses, old reading glasses I can risk getting damaged with power tools and paint etc, and way-too-strong-for-me-&-they-make-me-dizzy if I look up and forget I have them on glasses for actually seeing things if I'm crafting, sewing, drawing, fixing things.
So, basically anything fun
PRIMARY TEACHERS! This "disappearing rainbow" works because of the way light is refracted and totally internally reflected - the same phenomena at play in the making of a real rainbow. It's a demonstration you can use to explore / explain rainbows to your students. More in the link below.
British female track and field athletes are being asked to cover the cost of their own £185 sex tests if they want to compete internationally. Because curbing trans people's rights to participate in anything subjects everyone to intrusive scrutiny and here, hefty expense. This is not a 'them' issue.

Your last saved meme is your moral philosophy
4 Loudly blame them for not fixing it fast enough, how much it costs, & for the problem existing in the first place
4 Triumphantly return white men to power and have them take the credit for fixing 'their predecessor's mess' and saving everybody money.
That's standard political power everywhere.
1 White men run shit into the ground for decades
2 When problems can't be ignored any longer, let a non white person or woman get the job.
3 Complain, sabotage & gaslight constantly as they clean up the mess
