It models an off ramp. It gives people social cover, and a way to sidestep the discomfort with changing a firmly held belief.
So many people ignore what’s in front of them because they can’t confront their own responsibility in bringing it about. He just led the way.
Better late than never I guess

Tucker Carlson said he’s “tormented” that he helped elect 🍑.
Good. He should be.
But this is a big deal for a different reason.
This is why I do what I do, supporting underfunded Dems running for state leg.
And it’s why we just launched First In Line - a national crowdfunding effort to boost Dems running hard in the hardest places.

In a 2024 poll, 2 in 5 rural Americans thought a progressive policy agenda - that included tax fairness, protecting Medicare and Soc Sec, and supporting abortion rights - sounded like the GOP.
This is what happens when we cede territory and don’t run and support candidates everywhere.
Pete Buttegieg had more people at his event in OK than JD had at his in GA.
It’s not that our message isn’t popular in Red spaces. It’s that it’s often not shared at all.
I have no problem paying taxes.
I have a problem with my taxes paying billionaires.
This mission has been a reminder amidst the chaos and destruction that we can do amazing, joyful, meaningful things.
We CAN have better. But we can’t settle.
We have to shoot for the moon.
Mexico announced universal healthcare and the US announced automatic draft registration and that about sums up living in America in 2026.
Threats of nuclear annihilation - even if never carried out - leave scars.
Just ask any member of GenX.
Oh thank you friend! 💙💙💙
Love this idea @hornish.bsky.social
Talk about civic engagement. Local elections are the cornerstone of our democracy (and matter in successful resistance esp for expanding network, education and organizations. Kudos!

I propose we start talking about spending in Days Of War (DOW).
NASA’s entire budget is $24.4B. That’s 24 DOW.
He wants to cut NASA’s budget by $5.6B, or around 6 DOW.
Hits a little differently when you put things in perspective.
Once upon a time, a tan suit was The Controversy.
My son pointed out a house with a flag that said “respect our troops” and asked me what I thought of it.
I said I agreed - that we need to respect the lives of our troops enough not to send them into a voluntary war where they’ll be forced to kill for someone’s greed.
He thought that made sense.
Oh so a $50 billion fund allocated over 10 years isn’t going to offset the $137 billion rural hospitals lost?
You don’t say.
Our first round of crowdfunding will boost those candidates who are running now in districts that were uncontested by Dems last cycle.
This is the answer I’ve been wanting to give you. LFG, friend. LFG. 💙
First In Line is finally live - Every State Blue’s initiative to crowdfund for Democrats running for state legislature in some of the reddest places - all across the country.
We support the folks who are running hard in the hardest places. 💙
Since 2017, one of my favorite - and most heartbreaking - messages to get is “I love what Every State Blue is doing crowdfunding for red state Dems… Can you come to my state?”
I could never give the answer I wanted to.
Until now. 💙
Asking bsky friends for a repost.
Don't do this very often, but these are not often times. Tnx. D

“Well at least gas is $2… oh.”
“Well at least the Dow is …. oh.”
“Well at least we aren’t in any war … oh.”
I’ve never hated being right more than I hate being right right now.
Asking for $200 billion to keep bombing another country for no discernible reason - just months after refusing to spend just 15% of that amount on extending health insurance subsidies - is one hell of a choice.
And I don’t plan on letting them forget it, either.
They are going to test the limits of what people are willing to sign onto to avoid cognitive dissonance.
It would be an interesting psychological experiment if it wasn’t also an existential crisis.
“A Democrat hasn’t won that race in 30 years” is the kind of justification folks give for not running or supporting people running in Red America.
Go tell that to the new Democratic mayor of Boca.
Because a Democrat hasn’t won that race in 30 years. But he just did.
Every story about war spending should include the fact that extending ACA subsidies for one year would have been $30 billion.
And if you’re thinking “wait - didn’t I just see an article about the Defense Dep’t spending $93 billion in ONE month?” you’re right, you did.
It’s inspiring. It’s also super strategic.
Like we saw in yesterday’s results. After all, you can’t win if you don’t play.
So let’s run everywhere. And LFG. 💙💙💙
We want people sharing a 💙 message thru a local lens, organizing their neighbors, forcing 🔴 to spend resources and time defending safe seats. Right?
Right.
That’s why I do what I do. It’s my passion to lift up underdogs and make sure everyone has a voice and a choice and feels seen in this world.
And this is why we have to *support* the people who are running everywhere.
We need to encourage effort, connection, community empowerment.
We need to boost the folks who are out there speaking truth to power and doing the hard thing.
Yesterday 💙 flipped a 🔴 state house seat in New Hampshire AND forced a runoff for MTG’s congressional seat in GA.
Did you know the woman who flipped that NH seat ran in 2024? And lost by 14. Did that stop her?
No, it did not. She ran again. And this time she won.
This is why we run everywhere.
Here’s the thing - they don’t want to spend my tax dollars on making life easier. And I don’t want them to spend my tax dollars making war easier.
Just spitballing here but I think more folks agree with me on this one.
Absolutely -
