While talking to customer service my cat decided it would be a Great Idea to start yelling next to me for most of the phone call. I could tell the rep was trying not to laugh, but they eventually did 🫠 Of course, my cat left as soon as I started apologizing for her yapping smh

Hampshire was such a special place from what I've gathered, especially compared to their counterparts in the consortium. I have a much deeper appreciation now for what they were doing pedagogically, and the 5 Colleges really won't be the same without that perspective.
I also remember the first time I heard Hampshire’s motto (“to know is not enough”) and thinking, “Damn, that goes so hard.”
One of my regrets as a 5 College alum is not taking a course at Hampshire (double majoring made that a bit difficult), but I always loved the energy Hampshire students had whenever they were in my classes. This is a huge loss for the consortium and the PV 😔
As an alum from one of the 5 Colleges, I was devastated to hear the news about Hampshire, it’s such a huge loss for the consortium and community—

I love having so much more free time because I’m done writing, meaning I can go see my beloved ocean FINALLY 🙂↕️
Every time I go to USPS, I always witness something unusual— Today, there was someone at the front who had what genuinely looked like 20 small packages falling out of a bag, complaining about the self-kiosk machine not working, and then they practically yelled, "Mercury is probably in retrograde!"

I am So Tired™ but also relieved to say that I am FINALLY very very VERY NEARLY DONE. I just need the final okay from my advisor before I send this off to my committee (and need to schedule a defense date because I've been in that hell for 2+ weeks now). But everything is finally in one document…
With Hat Atelier is, no exaggeration, one of the most mesmerizing comics out there. Kamome Shirahama isn't "good at drawing" - she has great technical skill, yes, but she controls the flow like no one else, comes up with imagery that projects a world, and roots all of it in the themes of her series
That we continue to persist at all is a testament to our faith in one another.
It’s giving high school concert band energy 😭 I’m having war flashbacks—
There is something to be said that Mitski picked a high school auditorium to be the venue for LA…
Here's the link to the free pdf of my new book The Inattention Economy: How Women of Color Built the Internet. Access is so important and I'm grateful that the press is platforming it as one file that is easy to download. www.upress.umn.edu/978081669906...
Off we go into the wild pale yonder.
Thank you for making a thread of this and for attending!

Congratulations, Dr. Flood!! 🥳🥳
At the end of one student's exam, they first wrote that they couldn't believe they survived the quarter, then gave a brief acknowledgments statement 😂 I love that for them tbh
Gotta say, though, one of my favorite things that have come up while grading is one student writing "sheep water" next to Rameau almost every time his name appeared. I have to hand it to them for really committing to that pun.
Grading shenanigans continue:
Another student scribbled down in their short essay outline that Alessandro Scarlatti is, and I quote, "cantata god." Which… yeah, you're not wrong… 😅
Well, a different student wrote next to Haydn's name "daddy of the symphony & string quartet" 💀
Currently grading my students' final exams, and my student was so real for writing "ew" next to "D-sharp minor" (one of the multiple choice answers).
just want to note that the usps workers' rights have been absolutely gutted. they have a 90% turnover rate within the first three months, and workers are often expected to work 7 days a week, 10+ hrs a day. oh, and sundays? they deliver for amazon (which you can see in the image below actually).
Ooh, if you’re up for poetry, one collection that came out last year that I really enjoyed was Resting Bitch Face by Taylor Byas!
The title slide for Hyeonjin's SCMS conference paper. On the right side, there are official illustrations of Madeline and Badeline from the video game Celeste. To the left is the following text: Feels Bad to Suck: Dealing with Failure in Celeste and Its Music Hyeonjin Park (they/them) University of California, Los Angeles SCMS in Chicago, Illinois 26 March 2026
Well, a title slide was finally made for my #SCMS26 conference paper. I just have to finish the rest of the slides and the paper now 🫠
Cis people need to pay attention to the way they communicate this. They freely admit that after all of their research, they came up with zero evidence that HRT was harmful.
Then they banned it anyway, claiming their inability to find a reason is a reason in of itself.
