Can we talk about some of the oil-related stuff in the Premier's address? I'll get into the immigration piece in a column tomorrow, but some of the assumptions around oil production and exports she was using were....bananas?
Recently, UCP government advertised that “Alberta is open for business”, wanting to grow Alberta’s population to 10 million by 2030.
Now, influx on new Canadians is blamed for overcrowded hospitals, schools, and deficit.
In reality, mismanagement is the culprit, not immigrants.
Conservatives spent over a decade feeding the insatiable appetite in Alberta for anger and alienation towards Ottawa.

Identity protective cognition prevents facts from being effective in changing opinions. A segment of Albertans, especially separatists, have tied their identity to being victims. This makes it nearly impossible to rationalize with them.
