The story I haven't seen is on the Trump Administration folks, including the president, who claim to be residents of states far outside the DMV -- often with no state income tax.
"Plaintiff Kashyap P. Patel is ... a resident and citizen of Nevada."
Is he in D.C. 183 days? Does he file taxes there?

Big win today in Pennsylvania for reproductive rights:
Abortion access is a FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT guaranteed by the state constitution.
The loss of access to print and digital news archives is a serious risk. Particularly as news organizations merge, change ownership or even exit the market, the threat of losing so much of our nation's history is real
Blanket attempts to prevent Wayback Machine from archiving are short-sighted.
The loss of print and digital news archives is a serious issue. So much of our nation's history is captured in them, and as news organizations merge, fold and change ownership, the risk of this history being lost is grave.
The policy @rcfp.org successfully challenged is very similar to the one Penn State's Board of Trustees adopted.
'One voice' policies deny public officials and employees the right to dissent publicly or speak directly to their electors.
They are antithetical to democratic values and free speech.
It's a good thing I left UT-Austin or I'd probably be getting arrested right now for protesting outside Clarence Thomas' talk.
Who's doing the TPIA request to find out how much he was paid for his sage words? #FOI
Trump's legal teams pulls its defamation suit at the Eleventh Hour—no doubt part of a strategy to keep news organizations at heel over the threat of meritless litigation.
Trump knows these suits aren't winnable. He hopes news organizations settle. Defending against them is costly and distracting.
A reprieve—even if only temporary—from one of President Trump's vexatious lawsuits designed to punish news organizations he believes are critical of him.
As a public official, he must prove the statements are false or were published with reckless disregard for the truth.
That was 100 percent not the noise I expected to come out of such a cute little pup. That's a big dog voice!
10 extra throws, immediately!
I'm here for the "cinnamon letters."
I was in a meeting with a group of media lawyers just after Trump was elected (again) when someone asked what my biggest fear was. When I said "That he'll use the Espionage Act to prosecute journalists this time," several attorneys laughed.
I suspect they aren't laughing now.
Right-to-Know Law... If I'd had more caffeine and they didn't habitually violate both, I'd have gotten it right the first time.
A big win for residents of the Commonwealth as the PA Supreme Court declines to here Penn State's appeal.
Kudos to @rcfp.org and Cornell's 1A Clinic for helping to ensure the Board of Trustees follows the Pennsylvania Sunshine Act.
Spending the public's money is the public's business.
I have a number of Lebanese friends, and I visited the country several times when I lived in the Middle East. It's appalling the the world has just let Israel engage in a hostile takeover with zero repercussions.
The idea that the University of Florida, which will no longer allows students to take sociology as a general education course, and UT-Austin, which has obliterated the liberal arts, are "new Ivies" is a joke!
@forbes.com should be embarrassed.
Oh, Texas.
The Bible-infused curriculum turned out so well.
I'm sure this will go better. Just positive.
And, not to be undone by Florida expelling student "terrorists"...
Joke's on Texas: Students don't read anymore anyway, so good luck with that.
I'm sure it will go as well as the Bible-infused curriculum riddled with errors that taxpayers are having to pay school districts $60/student to adopt.
Brilliant plan: Let the FDLE to designate groups as terrorist organizations and then allow universities to expel students if they're members.
There's absolutely no way that would violate the First Amendment...
Had a great time chatting about Afroman's big win in the infamous "Lemon Pound Cake" defamation trial on @wgnradio.bsky.social's Legal Face-Off podcast.
And an iron.
When did hotel rooms stop having an iron and an ironing board?!
My clothes and I have been traveling. We both need a refresh.
Great public records reporting from @foiaball.com tracking NCAA football programs' spending on private jet travel, with three programs racking up more than $1M each.
Extraordinary cost compounded by extraordinary environmental impact.
Cross-stitched on a pillow would win the day.
If listening to the Birthright Citizenship oral argument is too much for you (my blood pressure was skyrocketing), I highly recommend following along with @stevevladeck.bsky.social's coverage.
I know what's going on, and my rage level has decreased to a slightly more tolerable level.
Sadly, so many stories I wish were a hoax today (I'm looking at you, evil Supreme Court) are not...
The alternative is that you present them your ID and they make a physical verification w/o taking a photo.
They can't make you wait or leave the line.
I always stand to the side of the camera so they can't take the photo.
I hear you.
My only solace is that my property tax is no longer funding a "Bible-infused" curriculum riddled with errors that is being rolled out in public schools with a subsidy of $60/student.
Oh, and the taxpayers get to pay to correct the errors too! Yippee!
Is this finally the moment when my Jewish friends stand in solidarity with my Muslim friends against Christian nationalism?
I sure hope so.
It would be fitting just to leave the giant hole there as a reminder of the destruction this administration has caused to our democracy...
TSA has never given me any problem, shockingly. But people behind me do a number of things:
1) Sigh loudly (most common)
2) "Come on! You're holding us up."
3) "Do you have something to hide?"
It takes no more time to look at my ID and compare it to my actual face b/c I have it out and ready.
Except they'd have to be willing to admit that in order to change...
