I don't appreciate feeling like the developers are actively trying to waste my time when what I want is to stay invested in the story and characters. The worst part is, the story DOES do a good job building up a sense of urgency, only to undercut its own building tension with 50+ janky timewasters.

Petition to make Square Enix chill out with the minigames in ffvii rebirth, im just trying to play for the story but every 10 minutes it stops everything to shove a new crappy mobile game ad in my face and then teases me if I don't drop everything to spend 40 minutes grinding it for a high score.

This was my favourite detail about Sphene in Dawntrail: that, when called back to her own senses during the final battle, she heard out the heroes and then said "No thank you, I'm sticking to my plan."

Sucks that these are the biggest trendsetters for creative/fandom/genre events for a whole damn continent 😣

Iirc the organization running a lot of "comicons" in the US (Reed Pop) has explicitly said they're not interested in niche stuff or even fandom inherently, they want to put on a mainstream festival to bring in as many people and $$ as they can, and if comics don't bring in the cash, then forget 'em.

I feel like "general interest" is the only niche that anyone cares to serve in NA nerd spaces these days, to the point that even the actual nerdy stuff is getting pushed out-- the biggest show in my area (Fan Expo) recently started incorporating pro wrestling and sports "fandom" into its programming
