The two are sitting for a moment and collecting their thoughts. Penelope begins to think about their earrings. Penelope: Do you remember when you asked about piercing your ear? Polly: After Dad's funeral. Panel 2 Penelope holds her hands together and thinks back to the past. Penelope: You told me you felt different and wanted something to show that change. And I decided to do it too. Panel 3 Penelope lowers her head. The earrings that she and Polly have mean so much to her now. It was something she felt that she had done for her daughter but it has come to have so much meaning for herself as well. Penelope: I wanted you to know that you weren't alone. That I'll be there if you need me. Panel 4 Penelope puts her arm around Polly's shoulder and smiles at her. They have experienced a lot of difficulties but they've been through it together. Penelope: Thank you for reminding me that I'm also not alone.
