Have you ever seen a bike lane sweeper - pulled behind a bike?

Volunteers in Kirkland have a new tool that attaches to the back of an e-bike. It's good for protected bike lanes, sidewalks, and narrow trails.

Rush hour traffic in Utrecht.

Sound on 🔊 if you want to experience that rush hour IS possible without the constant, deafening noise of cars overpowering people talking.

I rode over to Bothell to drop off these dead UPS batteries at the King County Hzardous Wastemobile. Another errand by bicycle that became a fun journey instead of a chore.

A black plastic crate on the front rack of a bicycle. Inside the crate are jackets and sweaters swaddling a large pumpkin. Leaves and asphalt sidewalk are visible in the background, and the edge of bike handlebars can also be seen in the bottom of the photo.

My new front rack crate was perfect for carrying home this (very swaddled) pumpkin on my #TernHSD e-bike.

How to design safer intersections:

1. Near-sided signals. Placed before the bike/ped crossing, they prevent drivers from creeping into the path.

2. Pavement differentiation. High-contrast, colored crossings (like this red asphalt) clearly establish priority and command driver attention.

We checked in sixty two bikes and scooters at yesterday's Harvest Festival in Kirkland. And one giant wagon dropped off by a frazzled but grateful parent.

I'm on the way home with dinner and the ONLY reason I chose this restaurant is because it's in a dense, walkable area that I can get to safely from where I bought the blender

I had a doctor's appointment today and the area around it is bike-friendly. That means I actually want to run my errands here.

- Grabbed lunch
- Picked up bulky HVAC filters
- 100 lbs of groceries and adult beverages
