Some reasons to be cheerful:
-Trump's plummeting poll numbers;
- Europe coalescing in response to Trump;
-state AG's stoutly enforcing the law as fed law enforcement institutions buckle;
-promising local news efforts as many legacy newspapers wither;
-lower fed courts holding the line.

The pundit class hasn't awakened to the fact that Phil Weiser is likely to upset Michael Bennet in the CO Governor's race. Phil's a principled fighter and a good listener; Bennet has offered no reason for costing the state the benefits of his 17 years of Senate seniority.

Alito's hard-right views were obvious to many in 2005. (I was involved in Sen Kennedy's preparations.) The Dems' opposition never really came together; it was complicated by the Roberts nomination and the Gang of Eight's self-appointed role in the filibuster discussions.

For now, Trump and a submissive Senate have effectively insulated him from the 25th Amdt route through his loathsome Cabinet. But what would happen if Congress held comprehensive public hearings on Trump's mental state?

The good news is that Trump fired Pam Bondi. The bad news is that he fired her for not being even more evil.

Because of Bennet's 17 years of seniority, he's in line to chair the Senate Agriculture Committee in the next Congress if the Dems win. He could move this legislation and singlehandedly stop Trump nominees who oppose it. He should stay in the job Colorado elected him to do.

I appreciate Governor Roy Romer for nominating me at the State Assembly and stating that I am "strong enough to change the course of history." I am proud to be the "candidate of Colorado" whereas Michael Bennet, who did not show up, is the "candidate of Washington." www.axios.com/local/denver...

Here's hoping the NY AG uses her expansive powers under NY's Martin Act to investigate what appears to be rampant insider bets on prediction markets.

Bennet pulled out of the caucuses because he knew that Weiser would beat him decisively among active Democrats. He should stay in the job Coloradans elected him to do, where his Senate seniority is an asset for the state.

Michael Bennet has 17 years of Senate seniority, which would make him the chair of the Sen Agriculture Comm in 2027 if Dems take Senate. He could block bad Trump nominees overseeing natl forests, wildfire response, farm policy & food assistance. He shouldn't quit the job Colorado elected him to do.
