Why Louise Erdrich says her book ‘Python’s Kiss’ took two decades to finish ‘The middles of novels are very hard to write, but the middle of stories are where everything changes,’ says the author.

Just got the new Louise Erdrich book so it's going to be a good day.

I did a double take when reading the tagline for "The Beheading Game" by @rebeccaslehmann.bsky.social. I saw the "The Six Wives of Henry VIII" (BBC 1970) when I was just a kid and all the beheadings terrified me and yet I can't wait to get my hands on this book!!

This is Mopar’s daily routine:
Sit at the door.
Watch for people.
Hope today’s the day he gets picked.
He’s about 3 years old, obsessed with his people and his toys (he’ll proudly carry them around like it’s his full-time job), and just wants to be wherever you are.
No drama. No nonsense. Just a solid, lovable dog who’s ready to go home.
Right now, he’s stuck behind a door.
He should be on your couch, with a toy in his mouth.
Come meet Mopar today

Book Cover: "Hard Work & Dumb Luck: How a Road through Gangs, Drugs, and a Jungle Ended Up in Hollywood" by Bryan Renfro:

Blurb" Bryan Renfro is a semi-retired stuntman, actor, and animal trainer who started out in the 1960s culture of drugs and gangs. After a tour in Vietnam, he returned to find that the man he was no longer fit in the world he’d left. He joined his uncle’s animal show at Universal in 1972 and moved on to work as a trainer on shows like "Here’s Boomer" and "Little House on the Prairie," and as a double and stuntman in hundreds of films and television shows as varied as "Squanto: A Warrior’s Tale," "Avonlea," "Prince Charming," "American Psycho," and "Murdoch Mysteries."On the days that get me down, I think of the names on “The Wall” and I am so thankful for everything I have. I have been very lucky throughout my life, having missed some really bad things—sometimes by mere inches. I worked hard and long, but good old dumb luck played a big part in my life too. Above all, though, I never forgot where I came from. I guess there’s a lesson in there somewhere. —from the Author
