I would like to thank you for this talk, but my husband has come upstairs & wants to know why I'm crying. Reply to anything I have said - I will get back to you tomorrow (later today)

How do you think it would go if Netanyahu just announced "OK, this isn't getting us where we need to go; we're stopping unless they keep shelling us" ?

9 hours ago 0 0 1 0

OK, you & I agree.

Of course, if it were up to me, I'd make Netanyahu stop. He's not going to "win" in any meaningful way. He just wants to stay out of jail. It's just unfair to blame HIM for this.

Because "Democracy" is a system of government, not a permission slip. It has to do with "countries" but they aren't connected to each other.

He will when Hamas stops.

Israel has finally gotten fed up.

The media never shows the constant attacks long before Oct 7.

But Hamas will not stop for the same reason it planned this heinous attack: because people take their side.

Gaza attacked Israel & refused to surrender.

If it really is a genocide, why hasn't Hamas stopped it? Netanyahu said from day one: we'll stop when you surrender.

That's not so much "Zionism" as it is "war".

Do I want it to stop? OF COURSE. But it's not "Zionism" s fault that it doesn't.

No, but that isn't an aim of Israel to prove, either.

I suppose so. It just didn't sound right to me. Like saying "Does your view of Democracy allow for Cuba to exist?"

9 hours ago 0 0 1 0

What do you mean?

9 hours ago 0 0 1 0

Of course.

9 hours ago 0 0 0 0

That mostly depends on what gets laid at the feet of Zionism.

9 hours ago 0 0 1 0

Yes, the paradox, sure.

But to say they get to redefine Zionism "because language is fluid" is extremely unfair.

Most people who say they're "anti Zionist" fall into 2 camps & you can generally find out which camp they are if you talk to them for more than a minute or 2. Some of them give it away when they discuss Zionism.

However, why *I* have to make the assumption & not them, is another story altogether.

This is why I said the question was a non sequitur, but Zionism has no affect on that one way or another.

Now, i suppose I could have tried answering the question i thought you were asking, but I find that can lead to people getting angry, too, if I guess wrong.

I don't know.

I hope to G-d not; those people have suffered enough.

But Hamas is what replaced the PLO.

I wonder if we can get Fateh to take over? (& by "we" I mean the UN - or someone)

9 hours ago 0 0 0 0

I do admit to being very angry when people put up horrendous definitions of Zionism & then label everyone else; I don't think insisting on the truth is "pedantry".

9 hours ago 0 0 1 0

I don't know. I really don't know anymore.

Sure, it's be great if that would work.

But I don't know. I can't trust in it.

It's easy to say "Oh, it's not our call," but the world holds us responsible anyway.

Am I cynical - or just depressed? I don't know that, either.

I didn't mean to dodge it.

I used to be VERY PRO a two-state solution. I was even hopeful because of Fateh (however hard some settler are trying to mess that up)

But with Hamas in charge of Gaza, look at what they do with it!

I just don't know anymore. I am afraid I despair.

Then I am very disappointed. And worse, not shocked. Too many Jews have not had enough of a Jewish education to even know what Zionism is (or is not).

But "Flavia Elphberg" is a literary pseudonym. I'm still Jewish, however.

No, I didn't dodge it; I was just answering your question. Zionism has nothing to do with anything but Israel. But, I will try to answer you..

I have actually very torn on the idea of a two-state solution at this point, because I don't think it would do any good.

All I had to do was see her post that her top three demands are
Feed the hungry
House the Homeless
Free Palestine.

REALLY? Nigeria, Syria, Yemen, Uighurs, Taiwan, IRAN, UKRAINE - none of these are important, just "Palestine"?? Yeah, totally not #antisemitism. RME.

If you think “the end” is gonna be the end of this bs, you’re delusional.

Some of you still don’t get it.

Sad news from Hawaii. Former Governor George Ariyoshi, who was the first Asian-American Governor in the U.S., has passed away. He served as Governor from 1974 to 1986 and was also involved in the final push to get statehood for Hawaii. May his memory be a blessing.

So, now that MAGA is openly pro-Klan, and punishing informants who rat out Klansmen to the feds, can the mainstream media admit that Donald Trump is a racist?
