Humbled to add the new Hague Convention on Choice of Court Agreements commentary to my library! Huge thanks to co-author, Dr Sai Ramani Garimella, for spotting our IJIL article citation. It’s a thick volume - found us in the bibliography, now hunting for the page!

I am thrilled to announce that I have been empanelled as an arbitrator by the Hainan International Arbitration Court. This opportunity marks an exciting step in my professional journey, and I look forward to contributing to the field of arbitration.
I am honoured to be appointed as an arbitrator for the Asia Pacific Vis Pre-Moot this year. I don't often get the chance to engage in mooting activities given my current academic focus, so I'm eager to bring a fresh, practical perspective to the bench. Good luck to all the 2026 teams!
I am eager to get hold of this book as I was told my 2017 article co-authored with Sai Ramani Garimella in the Indian Journal of International Law got cited in a number of places in this book.
This is to be released by the publisher by the end of January 2026. I am glad to contribute an updated Chapter 16 on “Jurisdiction and Applicable Law”. For further details about the book, please refer to: store.thomsonreuters.com.hk/en-HK/produc...
As academics, we publish, publish and publish - so-called "publish or perish". Recently, I suspect what we publish are fed into AI for its learning process and this in turn is used by students in their purportedly well-crafted assignments.
I have got my copy already. Have you got yours?
You may call me outdated but seriously I think AI is a malignant tumour in higher education.
This is a big problem which has caused the marking task becomes far more difficult and time-consuming with the need to verify sources. Humans built AI without prudent thoughts on how AI can be ethically used.

I am excited to receive a good news just now that my proposed paper has been accepted for presentation at the International Congress of Maritime Arbitrators (ICMA) Conference 2026 in Singapore.
Excited to engage with maritime arbitration professionals and revisit the amazing city of Singapore!
The trade war is making shipping companies panic-restructure to avoid new US/China port fees.
To stop the loophole, we need to find the true owner. Time to bring in South Africa's "associated ship" test or toughen the UNCLOS "genuine link" standard
I also contributed an article in here back then!
I am delighted to see the proof of my chapter contribution to the third edition of the practitioner’s text, “Maritime Law and Practice in Hong Kong” has arrived on my desk - maintaining a “connecting factor”!
I am delighted to be empanelled as an arbitrator and a mediator of the Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC)!

Law is a subject involving debates and opinions. Most law textbooks written for non-law students attempt to pin down legal positions just like 1+1=2 and hence they turn the subject into something very dry.
Stole from someone’s Linkedin. I like it 🤣🤣🤣

It was good to be able to fly to Sydney to volunteer myself as an arbitrator for the International Maritime Arbitration Moot. It was particularly good to sit with the legendary Luke Nottage in the round between the Erasmus University and the NALSAR University of Law!
Back to the University of Sydney’s Law School again for the International Maritime Arbitration Moot!
Thanks!
Do you have the link where I can access the full text of the interview?
It was my honour to be invited to contribute a lecture on marine insurance law to students in the “Advanced Insurance Law” module in the LLM programme of the Faculty of Law, Rangsit University. This was my very first time in my 20+ odd years to speak or give lectures in Thai.
It appears that, when we read cases from the USA, we will be bound to come across names like the Genius Act and the One Big Beautiful Act. What other weird titles of the statutes will we see again in the future?
Wondering how long it will be until the first law student in #auslaw finds out the hard way that AI cheating can potentially make you not a fit and proper person for admission: www.theguardian.com/education/20...
