Even this, funnily enough, is framed in that same way. "I need to get better at play so that I can be a better <x>." And maybe that's okay because it is also a skill you train to some degree? Not going to wax solipsistic any more than that.
And it's not like I don't have fun. I wouldn't do stuff if I didn't enjoy it. But like, for example, it's challenging for me to just fill a sketch page with goofy little things. It'd be easier to just do so with figures because then I can be like "I'm training this specific thing."
I don't know how to explain it exactly, but I want to get better at, like, playing. I feel like when I do something, I always have this very specific goal in mind. But the sort of stuff I do (art, programming) benefits from being able to just try stuff and have fun with it.
