I think this is the issue of many other community leaning their way. It's a cult mentality and they see any attack against one of them as an attack against all of them. So they will accept anyone, anything, as long it help grow their group. Only the EXTREME cases get condemned. Sad really.

For me I would say neither.
As both were mostly distributed by Scholastic, the books weren't as accessible to us francophone back then.
I grew up more with the Choose your own adventure series of books (and a french exclusive one focused on TF).
