That makes sense. It writes on a blank slate but also can be used rhetorically to smooth out any deletions or alterations that otherwise don't fit nearly into the law's structure.

Not my area. But something I think about teaching "rules" and "precedent" to 1Ls. Does H&T have much force for const'l issues with well-developed precedent? IOW does H&T only work on a blank slate, or does it also serve as a gap filler for preexisting developed doctrine?

@aarongleeman.bsky.social The raw numbers make sense. 11-11 is 6 better than 5-17 replacements. But our high rank seems off. Is that just variance and WPA related or RISP stuff? Or what explains that we're 8th in WAR but not actually 8th in how we've played or our record?

I've got a nearly 6yo in kinder. It does seem like a lot of facts/information. But we send him to a "fun" class on Saturdays. This quarter it's moral philosophy. He came back yesterday and asked me a question about how I would fairly allocate two cookies in diff situations. That's education!

Yeah. I guess the problem is: How do you make people curious and interested in learning things, as opposed to being knee-jerk a-hole reactionaries?

Oh I know. I was just saying that it's really entertaining and interesting to go beyond that initial "annoyance." I agree with your point that that is not most people's reaction. Just a loss to them all around, unfortunately!

It was actually really interesting to me to learn about the reasons for the demotion and the definition change and the other TNOs and then thinking about other definitions of "planet" that include Pluto but also some moons. Fun stuff!

Very much enjoyed the paper and podcast! Question/thought re the study: I wonder how much the guided AI steps on the synthesis task forced the AI students into a better form of reading/analyzing the case. I am reminded of Prof. Oates on student reading methods: www.lwionline.org/sites/defaul...

If the control group were given similar instructions re specific steps to take when reading/evaluating the text itself. Obviously not apples to apples. But there was something about the hand-holding process/structure of the AI synthesis instructions that seemed helpful *apart from* the AI itself. /X

2/ In other words, the "control" students were just told to read the cases and provide a rule. The AI students could do that too, but they were specifically told to do a back-and-forth evaluation and re-evaluation of AI outputs. The timing gains are real! But I wonder what would happen...

Is the technology re that capsule very similar to the tech they used on the previous crewed missions? Amazing that they look the same. I'd have thought modern capsule would be different. But maybe "how to get a chunk of metal that won't explode on reentry" is just a solved problem?
