Fantastic History of Punk show at Walthamstow Trades Hall! Great a memories and some “who?”, “what?”. An uplifting as well as very funny show.
I was the old giffer who cheered the opening chord of Alternative Ulster, “the greatest punk song of all time”. Saw SLF in 1978 in Newcastle, aged 15.

Ah, of course! 🤦‍♂️
I’m so hopeless with abbreviations, tbh. 😉

I can imagine that, of course.
What’s YT, btw?

All I can do is reiterate that I have a very positive (left wing) experience. I’ve not noticed a change for me. Obvs, different people have different experiences…

Meta’s Threads overtakes X in daily mobile users Meta’s Threads has surpassed Elon Musk’s X in global daily mobile users, signaling strong growth, rising ad revenue potential, and platform updates to enhance user engagement.

It recently topped X for daily users in the US. I’m not particularly arguing for or against Threads, just pointing out a fact.

I use both… I have to say I have a mostly friendly “curated” experience. I did lots of blocking early on, which seems to have taught the algorithm that I’m not interested in nutters. Also, the ‘hide for everyone’ feature is a godsend!

What am I missing? His right hand?
I’m surprised he’s not gone higher than crediting himself for 10 (🤦‍♂️) wars, btw… surely he was responsible for resolving WWII, WWI and the Siege of Troy?

@georgemonbiot.bsky.social I see you’re doing an event for The Observer… what are your thoughts on their soft-soaping of Reform on the front page? Very worrying treatment of fascists as the WI by new owners! If such a piece was in The Telegraph, Mail or Express it’d be risible. But in The Observer!?

A deadly E. coli outbreak hit 15 states, but the FDA chose not to publicize it The outbreak linked to romaine lettuce killed one person and sickened at least 88 more, including a 9-year-old boy who nearly died of kidney failure.

The philosophy of the Trump admin is “The strong will survive, and the weak (mostly older people) will perish. Oh well.”

For each senior that dies, that’s one more social security check they don’t have to send out.

Liz Truss and the art of shamelessness I once called a teacher “mum” and never lived it down. Some people spark a gilts crisis and keep going like nothing happened

My favourite revelation in this column is that the deranged and delusional Truss has criticised #MarkCarney for being the “unelected” prime minister of Canada! 🤦‍♂️

The core argument here is unanswerable. For liberal democratic countries, buying American weapons is a security risk. It must be avoided at all costs.

Patricia Bauman died a year ago.

ActBlue is a payment processor. Almost anyone who’s given to a D candidate in the last 20 years could be mischaracterized as a “ActBlue funder.”

Listing five Jews, two of whom are long dead, as “ActBlue funders” secretly behind the Tesla protests is antisemitism.

Russia, not Ukraine, is the obstacle to peace.

This is evident in the data. Russia has intensified its drone/missile strike campaign against Ukraine after President Trump was inaugurated.

Ukraine has offered many concessions to start peace processes.

Russia has offered zero.

Well, there’s the rub… if they declare a profit in the UK, they’ll have to pay tax on it.
Currently companies hide UK profits abroad to avoid UK tax, not meaning to teach you to suck eggs. At least. This wouldn’t allow them to have it both ways…

I hope he’s right. Seems like 🍊 🤡 been doubling down on attacking Z today.
Also, much as it pains me, does this chart show Trump is actually right that the US has provided more funding than Europe: as it stands, not “promised”?
Was there something about non-military aid that meant Europe paid more?

We’ll have to agree to disagree on some things, Andrew. I loathe Trump and do not trust him but in the time available (ie, right now) there is no way Europe/Britain’s under-invested in militaries could support Ukraine without the backing of the US. Time to hold our collective noses and deal with him
