I managed to piece the story together from John Fraser mainly and Tom Perrott. From the GCS Robert Snow told me what had happened (and Dennis Moyses too). I met Andrew Green twice c.2000 and his dislike of PU was evident but he didn't go into any great detail and I didn't press the matter.

This was about 1995/6 just before I joined the GC. I was astonished when I was told what had happened.

He took a lot of material and members with him when he formed the GCS (even stuff that belongs to the GC, not PU). The GC was left in a very unstable state with only a few loyal members. When the traitors realised their mistake they scuttled back to GC and some were given honorary life memberships!

His ego got so big he tried to destroy The Ghost Club when he was challenged. He stormed out and formed the Ghost Club Society which he claimed to be the oldest such group in the world - even though it was dormant for over 100 years and he'd usurped the name. 1/2

It's ironic because as far as I can see, every website that prints Bluesky user stats scrapes your website for data - and they're all broken too!

I've only ever read the bit about the Titan and the way it sinks doesn't match the Titanic's foundering. I've been told that "Futility" has some repugnant viewpoints in it.

Today marks the 114th anniversary of the maiden voyage of the Titanic. There aren't many ghost stories associated with the disaster, but this story of precognition is one of my favourites.
