My personal fave of this is all those Game of Thrones fans who were somehow caught off guard by Daenerys’ heel turn. Yes she freed enslaved people. But that was in response to her own treatment as a child. In every other way, she was a tyrant, and that was made clear over several seasons.

AND it was in the “next week on The Pitt” preview that followed last week’s ep.

No one forced you to follow.

He states the harm multiple times in the doc. And the subtext is clear. No neutrality is presented. To see otherwise is frankly, bizarre.

It’s a middling doc that fails because the subject matter is not worth the time. Not because it lacks a message.

But to each their own.

But Theroux doesn’t do that in any of his docs. It’s not his method. He assumes his audience can figure those things out for themselves. And will.

Good or bad, that’s his style.

I thought it was alright. Totally in keeping with Theroux’s style to not direct the proceedings. Let’s out the rope and that’s about it. His recent doc on West Bank settlements is similar in approach.

I will say, how can you be profound or ‘deep’ about such pathetic subject matter?
