My area of Pasadena was never threatened, but so so many friends have lost everything.

Just over a week ago, my dog helped Pasadena Engine 39 respond to a small (and quickly extinguished) brush fire. Just an hour later, the Eaton Fire would break out, and the entire Pasadena FD would respond. 7.5 days later, we're still fighting it and starting recovery.

By the time I got Kali booted up, the plane would have crashed.
Me: "One second! Just gotta 'sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade' real quick..."

One day, I'll be on an airplane, and the flight attendant will come over the speaker and say, "There's an Information Security emergency on board! Is anyone here an InfoSec expert?!"
And that's when I will hesitantly raise my hand, and say, "... Sort of?.."
