I'm in the "if there's ever any chance the stars might align and we end up being in the same region, I'd love to hang out" camp because of how many of my friends live far away from me.
Don't know if you're still around the mountains, but would definitely be looking for you if I could make it there.

The overall price trend should not change, as the extra memory allocation Micron will give to AI servers means that Samsung and SK Hynix will sell less than they would otherwise, but prices have definitely increased because of demand

Crucial is special because it's directly owned by Micron, the other vendors like GSkill, etc aren't, so it's highly unlikely they'd exit the consumer market

Well, tbh, Micron is the worst DDR5 memory manufacturer by a long distance anyway 🀣

Yeah, sadly, you have to use incendiary rhetoric nowadays to grab people's attention via outrage, even if you're a moderate.

I was wondering if there had been any research done to surgically increase the vasculature of the heart.
I know some tissue can be transplanted elsewhere within the body (tendons, ligaments), can the same theoretically be done for blood vessels to improve blood flow to the heart?

@medcrisis.bsky.social I don't know if you respond to tweets here, but I was rewatching your video about reperfusion in heart attacks and something came to my mind. In a much earlier video, you mentioned dogs having much smaller MIs due to having more arteries in their heart. 1/2

Not saying that to diminish the importance of clean energy, but we need to do a ton more to reduce our real emissions, including consumption patterns and investing in cleaner industrial solutions in developing countries, not just at home.

7 months ago 1 0 1 0

I can't argue either way without having firm data on hand, but I'm doubtful that the total emissions per capita of any western country has significantly dropped in the past couple of decades. Shipping goods on its own offsets a significant chunk of emission reductions due to clean energy.

7 months ago 1 0 1 0

the greenhouse emissions graphs almost never take the emissions from our total consumption into account, ie your emissions will nominally decrease if you move a factory to Asia, but the amount of goods you consume doesn't change, so it's a purely cosmetic change on the global scene.

My only two points are that the graph on wealth inequality stops at 2010 and there are reports from LSE that that has gotten worse since 2010 and the implementation of austerity, and 1/2

Digital artwork illustration of my fish-dragon sona, Faen. He is currently suspended underwater inside a kelp forest, with the lighting around the top indicating it may be somewhere near the surface. His eyes are shut, and his expression indicates some subtly quiet emotion of discomfort or focus as he holds his hands around a glowing gold figurine of a small quadruped aquatic dragon mirroring his own features (two sets of paired horns, twisty noodle body, dorsal frill and fins).

He is fully bare with natural markings, bioluminescence, and general fishy sleekness and sheen on full display, and rests in a semi-curled up pose. The kelp is wrapping around his body and limbs, mirroring the movement of his long tail as it lazily curls around to the background. The lighting is subdued, indicating that this may be deeper down than initially thought- two leopard sharks mirror the curving kelp/tail shapes as they circle around and look to the fish-dragon with interest. Smaller silvery fish swim throughout the kelp and through his hands without concern.

The corners of the illustration also have both our names with gold fishies! Me on top left, sapphi in bottom right ehehe

Digital artwork of a variety of expressive portraits featuring my sona, Faen.

In clockwise order and starting from the top:
1st - he is shown with his face in partial shadow, looking straight forwards with a grimly calm expression
2nd - he sports the slightest of smiles at the corner of his muzzle, face of tranquil peace
3rd - He has a CHARACTERISTICALLY CLASSY side-eye of some feeling adjacent to regret or nostalgia. The eyeridge is a bit furrowed and his mouth is subtly twisted
4th - He has aNOTHER characteristically unfazed look. Just, it's his "look", simply glancing down a bit with no emotions slipping out
5th - He may be yawning, or finding something so unbelievable that he's giving a FULL on grimace, complete with sharp teeth and fangs. LOVE those sharp teeth, a casual display of draconic expression really

Got a great opportunity to work on commission for a shark character back in July.
Now reviewing it I think I could've made the background a lot darker to give a more deep sea feeling, but I was quite pleased with the result nevertheless!
