It’s only the first one if they win 12 in a row.

The 2026 New York Mets: the most cursed team in history?

I’m sorry, the dude I keep hearing about on social media is out here seriously asking for “cool crimes”?

Caveat that I have not seen a certain upcoming musical biopic, but a lot of the displeasure with negative reviews sure sounds a lot like "How dare you remind me about the horrendous and indefensible allegations against this person whose music I like?"

…written by Nicholas Stoller? From the Muppet movies?

I heard a Mets podcast today where one of the hosts acted amazed that people might want David Stearns gone. Yeah, man, he’s bad at his job.

I get that the manager is likely going first, but I dunno, the guy who a) hired that manager, b) fired all the coaches, c) traded away fan favorites, d) brought in a closer who can’t throw strikes, and e) brought in players to field positions they didn’t know ought to go.

McLean is great, but Mendoza seems incapable of letting a rested reliever pitch a clean inning in place of a tiring starter (great or otherwise). Sigh.

1 day ago 1 0 1 0

Why did Mendoza even let McLean pitch the seventh? The sixth suggested he might be tiring, and…well…

I just keep hearing Kevin Kline in A Fish Called Wanda, shouting “We did not lose Vietnam, that was a tie!”

If they have any props from the "Tess as Julia Roberts" scene from Ocean's Twelve, I'm in.

The Tonight Show is built to liquify all phenomena into content. Trump, the political reactionary and demagogue, the harbinger of a crisis, was treated not as a threat to democracy or a figure of public concern, but just another wacky celebrity guest willing to play along. Fallon and his show are not horrifying because they are malevolent, actively creating suffering in the world, but because of a thoughtless, systematic refusal to perceive any of their work as having ethical consequences. Trump’s monstrosity becomes merely eccentric, as neoliberal media packaged as entertainment normalizes a failing status quo.

This is such a great encapsulation of the horror of the Tonight Show.

Some of us remember George of the Jungle very well! (Not even kidding: it’s slight but underrated.)

The sanitization and sanctification of Michael Jackson is one of those subjects I can't seem to talk about with calmness or rationality; I just stare at these money-machine enterprises and feel revulsion. I think I'll skip the discourse on this upcoming movie.

The Jackson estate can't hide Leaving Neverland from those who've already seen it A suppressive legal battle turned the moving Sundance documentary Leaving Neverland into a ghost haunting the Michael Jackson biopic.

This essay, by @timgrierson.bsky.social, on Leaving Neverland and how so many people have once again chosen to ignore the reality of Michael Jackson’s legacy is as excellent as others have said: www.avclub.com/leaving-neve...

Honestly kind of a shame that they can't do something similar for older films' musical sequences. That's very clever.
