So much data is tree-shaped in practice it honestly makes a lot of sense.

Been thinking recently about “CouchDB-shaped backend + relational query layer on the frontend”

ok so for the longest time i have refused to take the field of HCI seriously because of the sheer amount of mediocre research and papers

but now i wonder if the good ideas are rare just because it’s really really hard

the personal computing movement appeared to have a strong counter-politics, but ultimately recreated the ethos they originally challenged.

because of inconsistency that different in-flight requests might cause or just through it also being orchestration (that we have even less control over)?

1 week ago 0 0 1 0

from where i stand, the hardest problems in UI involve anything that looks like “orchestrating”, usually involving animations

if you just do everything instantly in response to user input, you can model everything as reactive UI

the moment there are timing-related dependencies it gets weirdddd

The schlorp corporation just drop a bombshell on the florp business.

Not a glump. Not a blomp. They just proved that they blurps don't schlemp like we thought.

Think about it.

While everyone was thinking blurps glomped the flurp, they showed what glomped means.

i think they, like Zero, realised it would be too difficult to educate everyone re. the problems with local writes

unless you mean a local cache from which to boot up faster, in which case, yeah they really should

Zero is made up of “just” queries and mutations, Instant is even more automagical

Convex also comes to mind

the way to understand this is to view Claude as the beaten and brainwashed servant of the giant machine that demanded “cleaner!” from it in an effort to sell tokens to enterprise

glassy-eyed, empty smile, mumbling “clean” to itself as it trudges along
