So join us as we meet folks all across our state and try to figure out how we can make North Carolina into a place that works for all of us. If you're ready to build an agenda that delivers affordability to the people of our state, join the Listening Tour bit.ly/esbejoinus.
We know that our government's reckless actions don't just hit us at the gas pump, but also at the grocery store and the doctor's office. We're all feeling the strain of footing the bill for another billionaire tax break.
Our city needs courageous leadership, and we will hold them to that standard.
Will you join us? Wear purple and RSVP at tiny.cc/durham0219. Meet up with us at 12 PM to connect with other members of Make NC Work and Siembra NC. We'd love to see you there!
Early voting has started, and the primary is now just a few weeks away! Mark your calendars and cast your early ballots before the end of February. Primary Election Day is March 3rd.
Rev. Dr. Sadler opposes handing over our tax dollars to ICE, opposes CBP agents terrorizing our cities and attended multiple trainings to help everyone in the Queen City get to school and work safely during CBP’s operation in November.
Siembra NC and @makencwork.bsky.social are proud to endorse Rev. Dr. Rodney Sadler (@rodneysadler.com) for NC House District 106. It is leadership like Rev. Dr. Sadler’s that will make it possible for North Carolina to become the best place to live, work, and raise our families.
But no one seems to feel safer, or like things have gotten more affordable. America is hardly feeling great these days.
We think we can come together and win the state we deserve, but we need YOU to fight with us. Join us!
2025 was wild: Remember DOGE? From massive layoffs to warrantless immigration raids, millions of North Carolinians have felt the impacts of the President’s actions. Oh, and his billionaire friends’ actions, too.
Buckle up y'all! 2026 is here 🎆
To all candidates who participated in our Town Halls, thank you for listening and sharing your vision for what leadership can look like in this moment. We all deserve leadership that knows its time to stand up!
And after promising to implement a plan to listen to how these federal attacks are currently affecting families and businesses and inform their plans for local government, these incoming candidates have an opportunity to do just that.
We are looking forward to seeing Greensboro and Chapel Hill join Durham and Carrboro in becoming the next 4th Amendment Workplace cities, after candidates committed to supporting city employees and local businesses in exercising their constitutional right.
At our Town Halls, these candidates heard from members of our community who are already experiencing the effects of these attacks.
Congratulations to Hugh Holston, Irving Allen, Denise Roth, April Parker, Cecile Crawford, Crystal Black, and Marikay Abuzuaiter in Greensboro. To Matt Kopac, Shanetta Burris, and Chelsea Cook in Durham. And to Paris Miller-Foushee, Louie Rivers III, Camille Berry, and Wes McMahon in Chapel Hill.
Voters in Greensboro, Durham and Chapel Hill elected their next City Councils last night.
And we are happy to share that in all three cities, a majority of the incoming councils said 'yes' to our pledge to stand up for their cities against attacks by the federal government.
Thanks to all the candidates who attended and everyone who worked to build the local political will we need in the face of these multiplying federal attacks on our communities.
All five candidates made commitments to making Chapel Hill a 4th Amendment City, and a majority supported holding a public hearing on federal attacks, with support for issuing some kind of report but disagreement about how. All agreed to meet in December to work out a plan for implementation.
ONE: Hold at least one public hearing on the impacts of federal attacks on our communities
TWO: Ask the City Manager to issue a report with recommendations
THREE: And make Chapel Hill the latest 4th Amendment Workplace City.
Before the election members over 200 people with Orange County Justice United, Siembra NC and Make NC Work gathered at United Church of Chapel Hill to ask candidates for Town Council to make three commitments:
We keep hearing about budgets and shutdowns on the news, but there are real-life consequences to the administration's attacks on working people in North Carolina...
We’re going for the Three-Peat in Chapel Hill tonight y’all, let’s keep standing up!
Attendees were invited to join us November 6, when we will be having a follow up Community Meeting. You can join us by going to tiny.cc/durhamnov6
Early voting started TODAY and goes through Nov 1, don’t forget to cast your ballot.
We’re going to keep this up. Alongside our partners at USSW and folks in Durham who are ready to stand up, we can have the leadership we want to see right here in Durham.
And the candidates responded by affirming that they commit to our demands to Stand Up for Durham.
They heard from the owner of a 4th Amendment Workplace, who has experienced disruptions to their business as a result of tariffs.
Parents who rely on health insurance to provide their children with the support they need spoke to the importance of funding for health programs. They heard from a student, whose family has experienced crackdowns on civil liberties and immigrants first-hand.
Candidates heard from a researcher whose job relies on federal funding, a job that they depend on for medical insurance while they undergo medical treatment.
They were asked to build off of the commitment made by City Council in declaring Durham a 4th Amendment city by holding public hearings on federal attacks and issuing a report based on what they hear from the community.
Last night, district candidates in Durham heard from people that have personally experienced how actions by the federal government are impacting our communities.
