Scientists uncovered the nutrients bees were missing - Colonies surged 15-fold

A lab-made diet supercharged bee colonies and could help save our food supply.

Date:

March 27, 2026

Source:

University of Oxford

Summary:

Scientists have developed a breakthrough "superfood" for honeybees by engineering yeast to produce the essential nutrients normally found in pollen. In controlled tri-als, colonies fed this specially designed diet produced up to 15 times more young, showing a dramatic boost in reproduction and overall health. As climate change and modern agriculture reduce the availability of natural pollen, this innovation could offer a practical way to support struggling bee populations.

Science Communication Is Central to the Practice of Science Opinion | Explaining and defending knowledge is as essential to the scientific enterprise as publishing research.

“if we consider the notion that explanation is not separate from discovery, but one of its highest forms, then we might rebuild a culture in which science is not merely produced but understood. That’s not a decorative add-on to the scientific enterprise. It’s one of the ways the enterprise survives”

We're energy experts, here's how the case for renewables is beating out nuclear THERE’S been a lot of talk about and PR for new nuclear in Scotland – but awkward facts intrude. Greenland, the planet’s thermostat, lost 105…

Our co-authored article.
#Wind and #solar worldwide now generate 70% more #electricity than #nuclear. Each year nuclear adds only as much net global power capacity as #renewables add every two days.

This Seventies TV show was Britain’s answer to Star Trek – until it wasn’t At the time, Space: 1999 was the most expensive series ever made, but a US producer and pulpier plots saw it lose its way

I feel I’ve been waiting all my life to be commissioned to write this feature about Space:1999 for today’s Telegraph.. www.telegraph.co.uk/gift/c7afbc1...

The Green Party is no longer fringe. Corbyn's economics were solid, his policies are mainstream in Scandinavia, Sweden, the Netherlands and Germany. The rabble were the people who sabotaged him. It won't work a second time with Polanski. The public has wised up, and Farage is losing ground.

Brooklyn and Eastern European Jews have no right to a country that belongs to its indigenous people, especially when its education system indoctrinates children to hate Arabs.

Agree with you on the nuclear issue; this will be an issue that the Greens need to be pressured, If they get in office, it will be due to an election alliance, so there will be other voices in the HoC

You achieve social policies and a green economy by implementing the economic changes Polanski has specified many times.

A conspiracy theorist wouldn't entertain the possibility that it could be a genuine antisemitism hate crime.

That's a fair criticism and I'm not a Green, due in part to some points you raised, especially re nuclear energy which I support. They will, however, fund other renewables. HS2, unfortunately, was poorly managed, set up to fail by involving corrupt developers. They'll build new housing, it's a given

I'm in complete agreement with you. To clarify, I specified men in my comment in response to the men's assertions in the post you shared.

Green policies are consistent with social policies, unless you can demonstrate otherwise.

What a dumb take, with this argument, we wouldn't have objected to Apatheid South Africa.

Why is no one suggesting the possibility that this is a false flag? It could be an antisemitic attack, it could equally be an agent provocateur. Israel has form, well-documented.

Canadian researcher Gerry Wright is searching for the next generation of life-saving antibiotics More than 5 million deaths every year are caused by or linked to superbugs

I ❤️ this @theglobeandmail.com piece on @gdwantibiotics.bsky.social. Such a beautiful story about his drive to discover new antibiotics against all odds, a tribute to his global leadership, not to mention the many trainee careers he has launched. So honoured to have been hired by this great man. #AMR

Pretty sure the Democrats aren't telling men to stop watching sports. Still, there's an argument Democrats have abandoned men by not offering genuine change, enabling blue-collar workers to live in financial dignity. Trump tapped into this discontent. US fascism is the failure of a viable opposition

Many of Carlson's views are batshit crazy, but he's bang on challenging this narrative. No country has an automatic right to exist per se. The Israel project has failed on its own terms, dismantling the nation as it stands, is the only way out of this mess.

The May Days: Stories of Courage and Resistance A century and a half of rebellions, uprisings, daring escapes, and adventures celebrating May Day and our collective capacity for freedom and self-determination.

On March 18, 1877, the young Peter Kropotkin joined Swiss anarchists for a march in Bern.

Kropotkin is remembered as a peaceable advocate of science and mutual aid, but he and his friends brought brass knuckles and other weapons to defend the march from police—who tried and failed to shut it down.
