Text: Make a small, square canvas. Ex. 10x10px. Draw any shape, then convert it to a pattern. Image: 10x10px heart shape drawn in Photoshop. The "Edit" Menu at the top of the screen is open, and the "Define Pattern..." menu option is selected.

Text: Change your fill bucket tool to pattern mode. Make a new layer for your pattern. Fill the whole canvas with your pattern! How I made art with heart-shaped pixels!

1. Draw a small shape on a square canvas
2. Convert the shape to a pattern
3. Resize your art so each pixel is the size of your shape
4. Fill the canvas with your pattern on a new layer
5. Clip the art to the pattern with a Clipping Mask
