Today the Government are delivering real, lasting change for millions of people through Northern Powerhouse Rail.
Reopening the Leamside Line, connecting the Metro to Washington, and ensuring faster, more frequent services across our region shows the difference a Labour Government makes.
Reform UK, which says it represents “change” from Conservative failures, has so far accepted defections from:
- A disgraced Tory minister sacked for tax-dodging
- Disgraced Tory vice chairman suspended for racism
- Disgraced former minister suspended for abandoning constituents for a reality TV gig

‼️The Labour Government have conducted a “Fair Funding” Review - putting things like deprivation and ability to raise money from council tax back in the Central Government Grant Formula for councils.
For Tameside that’s a 23% increase or £63.5m. That’s more money for our local public services. 💷

The last full week before Christmas. I started it with a visit to a very busy Beckton sorting office to meet our local posties and say thanks for all their hard work this year and over Christmas. 📮

(2/3) We heard from Massimiliano Messina, Nissan's Chairperson for the AMIEO Region that this investment in our local area will continue to provide jobs for my constituents and the broader North East.
(1/3) It was fantastic to hear all about Nissan's commitment to Sunderland and our workforce at the launch of the manufacturing of the third generation LEAF today.
I recently met apprentices and trainees from the Thames Skills Academy at a Port of London Authority Event.
It was great to meet people working and training on the River in East London including on Uber Boats and the Woolwich Ferry.
Again these people aren't patriots.
They hate our country and are allied to others who hate it too.
Nothing will ever be achieved by seeking to appease them
