I'm curious as well.

Informal surveys are science now?
Also what happens when your NPCs run out of tokens?
the 2023 movie is what i wanted to see in 1993, and the 1993 movie is what i would like to see now
The pain is real, Pixel art is especially expensive at variations and different outfits, unless your characters didn't move that much. 3D has a leg up there.
That said, I do love beautiful pixel art so much โค๏ธ ๐คฉ ๐พ
Yeah, it for sure deserves that ๐ ๐
Me: watching you on a computer
Make a game where you control a person
Who's using a fake computer OS
Are we in the matrix?
#AI bros: AI ISN'T GOING AWAY, get in or be left behind!
meth isn't going away anytime... but it DOESN'T MEAN YOU HAVE TO TAKE IT, or that it's good for you.
Probably too complex for what you're doing right now, just an idea :).
It's good to hear how long it took for you. I'm starting to realize how large of a gap there is between "First low-poly character" and something like your game.Knowing it takes time helps me understand why it feels so hard right for me to come close.
Pixel art/low-poly *seems* easy, but isn't
I played the n64 a lot as a kid, think Ocarina of Time was one of my first games I played.
Nice! I bet that helps a ton, I was thinking of this sort of leaning as well to sell that the player is in control (doesn't need to be this advanced though)
Do you have any advice on how you do art direction? This just looks so good!
I think people forget how awesome things could be if you had access to shaders which is sort of off the table in the web (unless you go crazy with webGL but that's hard to mix)
Still I find Html/CSS a lot easier with a lot more support. But we do need more native apps!
This is doing prototyping right ๐๐ป
Something about this just hits that nostalgic vibes, makes me really want to explore it. But I'm a n64 baby
This looks really fun! I feel like the character needs a bit of leaning to sell it, he/she feels a bit stiff. Just an idea!
Was thinking the same thing!
I know right? Nobody wants to be treated by an adult baby that might throw a fit at the smallest degree of... *gasp* thinking or... confusion! (the horror!)
Replaying Mario 64, they don't teach you MOST of the movements, and it's still fun today!
if you're working on an indie game you're probably making games for adults who have played something like your game before. you do not need to tutorial like you're nintendo or some mobile slop that wants to maximise funnel retention or w/e
The world feels pretty rough right now, that's for sure. But at least there are other like minded people trying to get through it together imo
Ooooo, in world hud is awesome
IT'S ALIVE!!!
Honestly, I kind of dig it.
BeastGamesDev shared a short breakdown addressing claims that the capsule art for Village Merchant was AI-generated. ๐จ

That's a cool idea! It seems to work really well.
