I cannot say enough good things about ZA. What an absolutely delightful game and almost everything I wanted and more. It made me care about such mundane things, I'm genuinely invested in the NPCs who give you quests and their lives with their pokemon

Yeah it's not a problem, it's honestly pretty fun, it's just funny to me. I had no clue how doubling worked until almost halfway through chapter 1, or how trading items requires money and a castle to even do, or even something as simple as forcing me to do math to find out how much damage I'm doing.
This is the experience I'm having playing FE4 for the first time and that game is leaps and bounds ahead of FE1 in that regard. It's crazy how much QOL I took for granted because all the games released in the west have them.

Good video. I find the fighting game examples really interesting because franchises like Guilty Gear actually DO respect character deaths and their lore, and while it makes it more cohesive it leads to the exact thing you mentioned, people clamoring for characters to come back.
