What Happened to Trinity Rodman? | INSIDE the USWNT & Spirit Star's Transformation | The Late Sub YouTube video by Just Women's Sports

New episode of the Late Sub, with a twist! Very excited to welcome Ally as a season long presenting sponsor for the show:

This week thought it would be interesting to talk about Trinity Rodman’s early season, in a visible evolution that could pay major dividends

Many complicated feelings about how its going down but can't deny that NWSL expanding to Columbus makes me really, really happy as a former kid growing up in rural Ohio who loved soccer and the Crew

Looks like the city council vote last night was truly the final piece on the NWSL side

More like the New York Knocks tbh

I must admit I hadn’t been following the Columbus bid super closely other than seeing general support for it from friends and family in the area, seems like an aggressively anti-social start to the project.

McCoy Park is a weird part of the city to designate to the training facility anyway (it’s…a pretty industrial not very nice area), and there had been a previous pledge from the Mayor to turn that area into a nicer green space and playground for families

I think they could’ve gone even further tbh but all the songs feel very alive

This is also maybe reductive and the second goal was a beautiful transitional piece of work but feels really productive that the U.S. exploited Japan’s biggest weakness (set pieces) as much as they did. Not something to take for granted.

Really good learning window for the USWNT. Appropriate amount of struggle against a really good team, big emotional response in game 3, Hutton for example is going to point to this week for a long time I think

Ok it is kind of a funny joke now that the front line still has not scored a goal for the U.S. this week

NASTY assist from Trinity Rodman

Serious analysis. Set pieces, man. Japan can not get a handle on set pieces.

Girma said if you’re gonna keep dropping it to me I’m gonna keep trying to score

Much better commitment to the counter press by the U.S. today, and they’re not getting dominated by physicality as much. Well controlled but, goals!

Obviously better than Tuesday but eventually the ball has to go in the goal

Japan obviously also has areas of great elevation but do you think the Nadeshiko went from sunny San Jose to rainy Seattle to snowy Denver this week like what the fuck

More like the Charlotte Hornots tbh

This is the first camp where it’s felt like the USWNT goalkeeper situation has shifted at all and it’s shifting towards Claudia Dickey

Nekias Duncan did ask them how that might work at the presser and they didn’t really have an answer lol

Incredible accounting but also completely deserved she’s worth 10x what they’re even allowed to give her

The NWSL cites a similar WNBA deal here but I'm old enough to remember when the WNBA fined natasha cloud for wearing a hat

Still no goals from the U.S. front line in two games

You schedule these games because you’re not afraid of losing them, but the lack of problem solving was a big problem for the US that’s going to feel not great for this young group hoping to show their growth over the last year.

The US loses the second of their Japan trio of games 1-0. Beautifully worked match by the Nadeshiko, played their style for the full 90. USWNT subs brightened things up a bit but also by the last 5 minutes the defense wouldn’t even hazard forward passes because they couldn’t read the field anymore.

That’s not a handball pen but is this a good time to soft launch I don’t really believe in those for friendlies anyway
